My new Winter shed

I had a mark one Williams :driving:
Sold it on when I got a company car, I wish I had kept it :headbang:
Scorpion straight through stainless steel exhaust, KN induction kit, polished and ported head and new ECU, stage 2 engine conversion from Prima racing in Sheffield.
Left the exterior bog standard, fitted an uprated stereo with 6x9s etc on parcel shelf
It was like a go cart only quicker.
Did get a Pug 306gti6 though as company car
Left that job then bought a ford puma 1.7, then a 206 CC 2.0se  then an X type jag then the Slk and finally the Z4
Still miss the Clio as truly the first fast-ish car I bought (had the Clio 1.4 RT and a 1.1 fiesta popular, then an E Reg Rover 216 SE before that(first car) :driving:
Again I miss the clio :(

Excellent choice! Although with the way prices of mk1 Clio 172's have been heading, I'd have been hard pushed not to get one of those instead of a Willy. My first "proper" car was a mk2 172 and I've always had a soft spot for them since.

I had a 172 Cup. Can't get them for £900 though can you? Plus I'd say the Willy is more of a future classic than the 172/182 anyday.
True, but mk1 172's are almost in £1k shed territory and are probably the next most "classic" after the 172 Cup. A lot more modern to drive than a Willy. Mine was a standard 04-plate 172 in monaco blue: loved it but damn was it unreliable! Had it perfect on H&R coilovers, Cup splitter, etc. Actually passed a very nice 172 Cup on the motorway last nice - still a great looking car with the turini's and spoiler.

I'd always wanted one of these so off I went to Scotland with £900 in my coat and purchased this. It needs some work done, which I knew it would. Thankfully the cambelt and arches had been done (arches have been sprayed a different Williams shade though!) but there is a few other things which need doing;

Make Good:
gear gator
seal sunroof
steering wheel straighten
steering wheel refurb
kickplates paint
rocker cover paint
under door rust
inner bootlid rust
fit CD player
fit alarm system
refurbish alloy wheels
bonnet alignment
full respray

Replace:
door pocket trim
parcel shelf
inner bootlid trim
boot carpet
rear wiper mechanism
spark plug cover
header tank
drivers electric mirror
rear tyres

I've already replaced the handbrake cable and had the tracking done. I'm in no hurry to get some jobs done, but of course making the car winter proof is my first aim. Conti sports are on order.

Checking underneath at the handbrake cables. The one supplied by the previous owner was of course the wrong one. I had wondered why he kept saying 'It's a 15 minute job' but he never actually did it. Nor did he supply me with a spare key although 'I have a mate who is a cobbler so I'll have one ready for you'.

Interior needed a reet good clean up. Got a friend of a friend who is a valeter who gave the carpets and seats a good going over. This is the 'before' pic, and once the interior has dried I'll take an 'after' pic. I'd have the new leather gear gator fitted had it not been for the gearknob not wanting to budge. Any ideas on how to get it off?

Engine bay is scarce at the moment. It needs a spark plug cover, heatshield and header tank. All on order. It also needs the cam cover to be repainted silver as opposed to the black that it is at the moment

The sunroof leaks, and they are a constant pain in the backside so once the car dries out I will be sealing it as opposed to fixing it only for it to leak again and blow the motor

Well, almost £2.5k later it's now looking like this:

I've spent more on this in the 6/7 months I've had it than I have in the 12 months I've owned the Z4C!
