Kidlington would have been better, but Kiddington is only about 25 mins from me.

I can show you that basics, but I'm no expert, however I have cleared codes on my Z3 and Z4M before

Or see what can be done when you come to the AV8 cafe

Far too late buddy. I really need it sorting by Sunday at the very latest. By Friday ideally so i can get the car an MOT Saturday morning. Then drive it to Norwich Sunday and leave my car to have the ecu done. If i wait till AV8 I won’t be coming to the AV8 meet as my car won’t be running  Chicken and egg situation!!

Ok guys a little update. Just because I don’t update or post all the time. That does not mean I haven’t been working hard. I have had idle control issues boost leaks and oil system issues.

Idle control was just striped and cleaned. And sorted its self out. The valve seemed to be working and was not that dirty witch was a bit weird,

Boost leaks well the snap ring that hold the compressor side of the turbo to the turbo body was ever so slightly not home. And was causing what I thought was a different oil issue and also presurising the oil system.
I had a leak on the intercooler I have done a bodge fix on that. But have ordered a new one for the proper fix. And i have also had leaks from the manifold CCV system so that has been completely removed. And a catch can set up installed. If anyone wants the ccv system PM me it’s yours.

I am hopefully taking it out for a quick drive tonight to make sure it will make positive boost. I have missed my window of opportunity to get the ECU fitted. I have to wait now until the 4th of June. But i will be taxing a driving and running the car from the 1st of May.
But without the charge pipe connected. it will be a NA car running a turbo!! All the sound no power: rofl: but it will allow me to check many things and enjoy my car a little bit.

Love this, ultimately I'd love to have boost in my car. Can't wait to see this up and running. On a side note is the ccv difficult to do, was thinking of refreshing mine at some point?

Thanks guys.
Yeah it’s getting there. Got it all mostly back together tonight. Can’t try it tomorrow. But I will Thursday so wish me luck.

Apparently you can do it without removing the intake manifold. But I would remove it and do it properly. Give it all a clean and replace and renew the injector o rings and even get them cleaned for some extra go too.
There are some good YouTube videos. I would buy a spare injector clip!! I lost one never to be found again!!

Did you get it up and running on Thursday??
Watching with interest as I love the route this has gone..... Might of had a little chat with my friendly mechanic about something very similar ;)

No haven’t really had much time the last week for playing with the car.
I will be having a play tomorrow though.
If you do a rear mount Turbo there are a few things you do differently to a normal turbo system. I would be more than happy to advise you. Also don’t do as i have and run a remote oil system for the turbo. It’s been the biggest headache by far.

Im guessing its not been a fun task doing the remote oil then!!
That was one thing myself and the mechanic spoke about, would you have taken a feed from the engine side if you had to do it all again?

Yeah if I was doing it again i would. I would just take a feed from the oil filter housing cap and just run a return pump.
Also if you going to do this. Don’t go big on the exhaust from the turbo. 2.5" twin into single like mine is about right. Also don’t worry about pipe size from the turbo to the intercooler. And your boost reference line for the waste gate does not want to come off the compressor housing. But the charge pipe as close to the TB as you can get it.

So my car is NA again!!

But don’t worry I am not giving up on the turbo build.
I have had problems, boost leaks oil system pressurising and obviously the ecu sh1tting it’s self. So I have disconnected the charge pipe from the intercooler to the TB. Put this air filter on. And I have put a bung in the other end above the dump valve.

I can now drive the car and enjoy it and test and check everything works. It goes away for the ecu now on the 4th of June.
