Monkey mans power adder

Hi guys

Nope I am on holiday recharging the batteries. Been a long slog and thought going with work and a family. But looking forward to being home and getting it all wrapped up and sent away for the ECU on the 4th of June.

So found the boost leak that had caused me issues! Silly and obvious really it was the DISA. It’s fixed I will bench test it and refit if all is well Saturday.

I have also got a tow car sorted. So I can rebuild it all in its final state! New injectors and the MAF deleted. So close to being done now. Just need to figure out what boost pressure they will map the car to! They said low boost? But I have a 1 bar spring in my waste gate!

Ideally you need to get the boost down to 5 or 6 psi to start with

Agreed new spring ordered. Hopefully depending on how things are looking when mapping? We will be going for 7-8 psi at least. Lots of m54b30 have run at half a bar and made the power I am after safely and using the ms43 BMW ecu.

id shoot for 8-9lbs.... thats what i run and your motor is much more commonly boosted in stock form than the s54.

SCS are mapping the car and making it safe. They only want to map to about half a bar! We will see what they do and what numbers I get.

Next round of work. Oil pump, harmonic damper, engine mounts, Head bolts and gasket. Then it will go to Steve Saddler and be mapped at a bar of boost and it should be hitting high numbers then. But that’s probably a year or more away. I just want it back and to drive it for now. And tidy it up and sort out all the little things. Like some audio and the paint!! And wheels.

So this happened yesterday
IMG_0048.JPG

After about 12 hours working on the car Saturday. We got it loaded where going to drive through the night. But the trailer lights where not working. I only had the x3 until 12.00 Sunday! And my buddy Chris wasn’t around.

After much begging and making promises to friends and family. I had my buddy Chris and the car for the day and after 8 hours driving £120 in diesel and snacks my car was dropped off and is at SCS.

Watch this space for updates.

MM if it help you im happy to wrap the car for a very reasonable rate for a club member..... saves paint costs for another 5-7 years, we could something realy cool, about to wrap my ST in satin roaring thunder!!

Thanks that’s very kind and a nice offer.

But I have the spray booth I like the colour and if I damage anything ever I can just re paint new panels myself. One of the great things about the z4 all the panels bolt on and off. Which is very handy on a track/drift car!!

Big day today!

SCS want the car for 2 weeks. They need to make a loom adapter to convert the BMW harness to the pin outs on their ECU. And then check everything works as it should. Then it will go on the rolling road for its tune.

Matthew Payne at SCS thinks it might be done sooner. But it’s going to be a long 2 weeks!!!

How much would a full wrap cost for a member   been thinking about this for a few months now. Also would be happy to assist and strip the car down.

Been a epic project to get this far but getting to the good part now Mat :) looking forward to seeing it "tested " out :driving:
