Modernising Intravee II

I have a Intravee II and Alpina KCA420i in my Z4 (E85), but it has a 30 pin Apple adapter, obviously this is dated, so I need a 30 pin to lightening adapter but I can't find one for love nor money. There is also the 5v -> 12v adapter, so it's all a bit of a mess.

Is there a replacement to the KCA420i that has a lightening adapter, or even a newer cable for the KCA420i I can buy? I have looked, but no luck. Even the toysinyourcar.com site has gone now!

Thanks

Whilst we're on it, my audio does the 'speed boost' thing, but when I stop. It doesn't adjust it unless I come to a stop then the sound get louder!

Any ideas?

The connector is a Scosche adaptor you need.

For the relative volume of the radio, put that to 0 in the radio setup.

That adapter is still 30 pin, non? I need to adapt 30 pin to lightning

The relative audio is still wrong, it should get louder the faster you go. I'm using AUX at the minute, and at speed I can barely hear the audio

Something like this?

Yea, thats it. I was hoping for something not quite as pricy though! $50 and a 2 week wait is painful :(

Quite a few options on amazon. Just depends what you want to spend.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charge-Connector-Suitable-Generation-Compatible-Black/dp/B00A7QZ5IO

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Certified-Lightning-Charging-Converter-Compatible/dp/B09QPH2GN3

Thanks for the suggestions. The amazon links have mixed reviews if they work with 5 generation old phones, so I don't hold out hope!

I was hoping someone had a better solution than 3 adapters being needed to go from the 420 to lightning, surely there is a something to replace the 420?

what software version is the intravee running, the last version i am using is V6.02-7155

heres my files if you want to update it https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13WwfSC3GynJhtMGFaxHoJPAbqHSPdZGM?usp=share_link
you will need a laptop and usb to serial port cable

I've bitten the bullet and found a replacement 30pin to lightning adapter on ebay for £30. I will buy a lightning extension cable and hide the adapter. The reason my last one broke is the constant in and out. This way I'll wear out the easily replaceable lightning adapter.

Mac, is it worth the update? I've had mine for 4 or so years and bought it 2nd hand, never updated myself. I imagine it's the firmware it shipped with. I can borrow an old laptop from work with serial if so

you need to check what version you have so then can compare the difference

a guy on the bmw 5 forum called richard continued the development of the firmware, however the unit has such a small memory it was difficult to add more features. the forum doesn't exist now so don't know if it got developed anymore than the version i have.

A lot of the forum posts were lost during some backup so whatever’s left (or could be retrieved) is here:

https://www.forum5.co.uk/forum/67-intravee/

There’s a sub section for “older posts” where you can dig through the archive but you’re at least able to download the latest firmware

I’ll sort a laptop out and update then.

My cables arrived, so much better! I threw the old one away then didn’t use the car for a few months. So when I started using the AUX it seemed fine. But back to back with the proper cable and it’s worlds apart, so glad I got one.

Plan to get an extension cable so the rare expensive 30pin to lightning stays tucked away.

This is what I have and its all connected to a dashmount that the phone is slid into. I wanted to listen to music AND charge the phone and I found that non-apple adaptors wouldnt give me both.
