Modernising Intravee II

No, it’s been fine with the setup. But the 30 pin cable broke, so I was wondering if there was a better solution. Seems not, so I got an other Apple adapter.

Annoyingly this one won’t show the track name and I can’t skip a song from the stereo or steering wheel, but music plays and it charges. Old one used to do this when it was a bad connection sometimes, but I’ve checked it a dozen times.

It is annoying sometimes. Now and again mine won’t recognise the phone or won’t skip tracks. This is without me changing anything. Reseating the phone usually fixes it but the whole set-up just seems moody sometimes. 😜 . I agree, it would be good to see a more modern solution without replacing the screen and going for a tablet.

grr. I thought I put a post up but not here.

My extension broke after 6 months. Glad I done it this way, as they are £5 not £30 (or more!) for the apple adapter.

I was considering a iPhone 15, but that is not USB-C, so a further step away from lightening. Has anyone managed to get a 30pin to USBC working? I fear that getting a 15 might mean the end of using the Intravee. Or have a 'spare' device for music, not ideal.

Reading through this post, it feels as though the universe is very much trying to get you away from 30-pin technology and the Intravee. Is Bluetooth via BluMusic and simple charge setup (e.g., iPhone 15 and wired in MagSafe holder for power/nav etc), not something you want to get into?

You're not wrong. I suppose it's there and I've paid for it!

Also, I do have a 3.5mm (obs the iPhone doesn't) but the audio quality is poor and not as loud. I think I did buy a BT one and it was the same.

Have you a BlueMusic Adapter? Can you confirm? I would've bought this 5+ years ago, so maybe they've moved on.

I get that feeling of having the kit already so trying to make it all work, and you've def tried!
I have always used the BlueMusic adapters - or even the generic versions - and they're pretty seamless. Literally plug and play.

Yes, I found that. Is this the one that just acts as a cd player?

That's another thing with the Intravee, not only do you get (or should get!) tracks names etc, but you get all of the info programmed into the display, in my case, water temp, speed, rpm etc.

The intravee can stay for it's programming ability, but to lose everything because I didn't find a cable... I wonder if those BT to 30 pin adapters work on it? So best of both worlds.

BlueMusic works with your phone screen as the info for track artwork, control etc. No car data though. If you have Nav it shows track numbers only (as its a 'replacement' for the CD or CD changer). If you want all the data and you have the setup, just not the cable solution then I'd keep plugging away at finding the best cable solution.

Not sure how reliable the BT to 3-pin connectors are but they may be a good cheap test if you can find on on AliExpress or eBay.

Does the Intravee have a 3.5mm input? If so, maybe a BT with aux cable could work.

I might give a 30pin to BT a go.

No 3.5mm sadly. It does have a "audio" interface, but I think that is for the cd changer audio to the stereo. I will look into it more, but info is thin online!

 Just be careful when choosing a device, as a lot of them specify 'not for car or motorcycle' I guess due to protocols.

Thanks for the recommendation, but whats this bit about?

To clarify, this is using an Intrevee with the 30pin to BT adapter?

Ye so I dont have an intravee but I have a Dension iGateway that has an ipod 30 pin output. This plugs in and you stream direct to it.

They were designed for iPod 30 pin speakers but it works perfectly in the Z. Sound quality is really good too. Might have got the wrong end of the stick with the thread. Is it power your after?

I use this as to stream then have a belkin MagSafe USB C mount that I plug into the cig lighter.

Used mine for 4 years now as I have the 30 pin its easier than pulling half the boot out to install the bluetooth module (which I also bought incase this wasn't any good)

Although Layen isnt a house hold name it's the best adapter of its kind. I did a lot of research before buying one as a lot say they won't work in cars but this one works a treat for £22 cant really go wrong.

I'm not fussed by power, I just don't want to lose the sound quality of the setup I have, with it playing back on the "intravee" screen (it offers rpm, water temp etc).

All this does is turn 30 pin into BT, so I can't see why it won't work. Also means I can not have to worry about damaging the cable, as it'll be tucked away.

Thanks for the recommendation, will give it a go.
