Miles Per Tank

I reset the trip at every fuel fill up and get anywhere between 280 -350 miles in a 3.0si.

Pretty much all B road driving.

i find the guage and miles left are a load of old shite at the low end. today my guage said i had just under 1/4 tank and 47 miles. work is 34 miles and some how after 30 it read ---- and the guage was at zero. i drove another 2 miles to my hospital appt and then another 5 to the petrol station like. 30 quid = ~25l so about half a tank and now the guage is at half.

some how again im 40 miles down on my usual mpg per tank. either im driving more in the wrong gear or its down to it being colder or i have a problem....

your'e never going to get accurate consumption figures by adding "about half a tank" The only dependable/repeatable method is to brim the tank, then note the miles covered when you fill it from empty again and do your calculations from those figures.
regards

no i know, usually its 52L full tank but as id already done 2 junctions of the m62 on --- miles left and at the bottom of the guage, parked at the hospital and then got back in i jumped in the nearest place which was sainsburys so just put in their super. :D its enough to see mw though to finishing next week (well i hope so)

for me its ususally pretty steady give or take 10 miles on the trip (also reset every fill up) but the last 3 tanks worth its been 290-300. i notice it as usually i do about 10 trips to work and need to fill up on the way home. then i started getting megga low on the way to work and started paying attention. its when i switched to momentum. i need to to a few tanks back on shell to see if its the fuel. it could just be more people in their cars and me leaving later so doing much more traffic crawling ... or just better fuel so more lead boot driving

I am getting about 400 from a 2.5si, mostly motorway driving, without even trying too hard.....reckon if I took it easy 40mpg on a long run is very doable.

I was pleased to see high 40's the other day. I drove to sort out my MOT and I had a failing tyre, so had to cruise at 60-70mph the whole way, didn't have a full tank to begin with but still managed to see nearly 400miles predict on the range meter. Of course it dropped to 200 on NY way home one the tyre was sorted. Pic below is after having done 57miles mainly on A4 and M25.

How did you get this split screen setup on your nav display?

I pressed the split screen button on the dashboard :). It looks at the last two functions you use, in this case it was the nav and computer. I think if I'd changed the radio it would then show the nav and radio on split screen, will check. There's defo a button for split screen though.

Who knew, I'll have a look in the manual thanks!

So today was the first time I had a chance to drive the car in about 3 weeks. Tried this out and I quite like it!

Cant believe its taken nearly 3 years of ownership to find this

i think this also has a big bearing on the fuel. its not a totally scientific test but i noticed a MASSIVE drop off on momentum from tesco. traffic is about the same each time and i mostly use the car for work prob about 98% of its use. optimax (well its the super from costco but it came out of a shell tanker and the guy said it was basically optimax) is the best not far below was shell normal.

the reason i noticed the difference is i simply stopped getting to work and back on a whole tank in a week. i was running on fumes to the tesco on the way home. before i used to do the journeys and then make a special one to the costco station. its about 40 miles less on a tank.

i should caveat this with ive gone back to the super from costco for the last 700 miles and im back up to over 300 per tank but its not quite as high as before so maybe there is an underlying problem. (its why i have looked at my disa and vanos)

Hi domsz4, the colder weather would lead to a lower economy level regardless of the fuel used-it will rise again in the spring :)
Regards

I've noticed no difference between momentum and vpower on the same commute. They both result in a bit better economy than 95 RON.

I find the opposite, maybe it's because I encourage the higher RON by :driving:

Thought id better get some fuel for the London meet tomorrow :o

After refuelling with 51.41 litres of V power it says a range of 285 miles

I normally get around 240 miles to the tank

378.1 out of a tank of Tesco Momentum99 (3.0 Coupe Auto), Helped by seeing the range tick over to --- when I still had 18 miles to go to the next services (which I made and still only got 53 litres in the tank)

This is a good question :) , when playing/driving normally 320's but when I was doing my 100 mile a day commute I tried for a few weeks to see what I could get and 400-420 was possible, albeit on fumes at the end.
It's a staggering car really, nigh on 40mpg from a straight six 3ltr sports car!

When i picked up my 3.0si Coupe from Edinburgh i filled up and zero'd the miles...

I took this after 100 miles...So possible 462 miles range ?
