Migrant crises

I've been listening to my local radio station this morning whilst decorating :dizzy: and quite interesting to hear local peoples phone in views. Virtually everyone who phoned in said they didn't want anymore migrants in the country with the biggest worry being migrants being given priority on housing waiting lists and the extra strain on local education. The Gov't has however pledged extra local gov't funding to overcome this. Most people also mentioned the young men amongst the migrants and why they haven't stayed back in Syria to fight, whatever or whoever they are supposed to be fighting and comparing it to this country in WW2 where young men enlisted and fought and the fact they didn't run away to other countries. Interesting to hear.

On another topic, if you had spare rooms at home would you give them up for migrant families?

I'm in the refugees yes - migrants no camp!

(The migrants I refer to here are the non skilled masses who appear to want the milk and honey from the better off euro countries)

Spot on.

I purposely bought the Times today to see if there was any other news in the world because looking at the UK TV news you wouldn't think so. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm just waiting for vocal celeb's on Twitter (Richard Bacon and Gary Lineker being two who I follow who've got my goat up) to tweet pictures of them accommodating migrant families to do their bit.

Media does have pet subjects which can get rather boring.

Unfortunately, they can also hype a large proportion of the population into a frenzy, resulting into a competition about who can hug the most migrants.

Or indeed who can appear to be the biggest w@nker - Usually Katie Hopkins

I have to say it did look a tad weird and staged showing the German public clapping and holding welcome placards in Munich.

Isn't it about time then that the politically correct BBC stopped referring to those in Calais as refugees. They are not as there is no war in France the last I heard.

I know this is a bit harsh but how these charity people feel if one of there family members can't have a life saving operation or life saving bed in hospital because the beds are all taken up by migrants in our already busy over stretched hospitals.
We only a little island and we are sinking.

Well said!-who's to say sleepers wont be smuggled in among them also?

Look on the bright side, alot of them are probably doctors so when you do have your operation you won't have a clue what they're taking about.

Take 10,000 migrant families........bear in mind with the best will in the world they wont find jobs right away ( if ever) ......now factor in a free home .......say what?......£800 a month? ..........add £200 a week ( a conservative figure) per family.........then factor in child benefit .......oh and lets not forget a grant to furnish this free home too ........£2000?...........well you do the math thats a lot of benefits out of our pockets to add to the already stretched average family budget

And dont forget..........thats only 10,000 families

Which over the years are obviously going to multiply.

Are they generally of the same Islamic persuasion as the rest of the migrant population in the UK or is that going to give friction as well?

oh and something else..........untill their asylum applications are processed and granted they arent allowed to work so all their income etc comes direct from the Home office and doesnt show up on the benefit budget

why are you assuming people that arent british born can't find work in the UK?

It's funny all the negative arguements for people movement - "they'll take our jobs!" followed by "they'll come here do no work and take our benefits!"

Which is it?

Neither. Blanket statements about 10,000 different people are dumb.

Well what is it then if neither?

It'll either be jobs or benefits won't it?

And what about housing......is there enough to support them?

It seems we will be taking at least 10,000 refugees from refugee camps in neighbouring Syrian country's only, and paid for with the foreign aid budget. Shrewd move from the PM me thinks.
