Hi all,
Just caught up with this thread, it was me (shock horror) that challenged Maniac in that angel eyes thread.
Firstly, just to clarify for some on here it wasn't actually a hissy fit or anything to do with being on my 'cycle'. Actually if you look at the curt nature of some of Maniacs previous posts (we've all acknowledged there have been some), then he of all members I would have expected to be able to take the criticism. Also just to be specific, I personally wasn't focusing purely on just the 'use search' comments, but many previous comments such as lol etc, which are not helpful, but came across as patronising. As I also pointed out, I have found many of his posts helpful, but to be honest this is also in addition to many other members on here who are also extremely helpful, and sometimes more so.
I stand by my post and think we should all be welcoming to new members (and existing) and politeness costs nothing. I find it ironic that people should imply we should 'man up' when we see slightly critical posts like the ones I pointed out that maniac had posted, yet when that same person is on the receiving end of a critical post like mine, guess who really can't take it? Who is the one who says 'that's it, I'm leaving'?
The forum is overall extremely friendly and helpful and opinions like mine will come and go, but this forum is bigger than a single member. If one leaves in a strop, it's a shame, but the world will go on. And new members, some of who may have some fantastic input, will always join.
Someone pointed out that I hadn't posted here for a while either, that's purely because I've sold my z4 and now have an e-class cabriolet, just fancied a change but I'd always recommend a z4 (and this forum) to others.

Whats wrong with keeping them to yourself?
it's not exactly surprising that some people on the internet annoy you or don't do things how you want to.
But surely bringing them up on it publicly and effectively challenging them, isn't ever going to be the right solution.
If people have a problem with me, I'd listen to them if they came and said it on the side / pm'd me.
If they shout about it publicly without doing so, then pride probably kicks in, and I would become extremely defensive and argumentative.
