Maniac missing ?

Personally, I found him rather condescending...just my opinion.

I have to agree. He was rather curt bordering on rude with me on a couple of occasions.

However, his knowledge and input was worth having, he shouldn't have taken offense as easily as he dished it out!

And comments like that are not really necessary on the forum. We all have opinions, and read context into a statement that may or may not be meant - sometimes a quick short response could come across as curt, whereas the author could be responding from a phone. I know, because I do this often. Also, having met Maniac, I know that he isn't condescending at all.

Just my opinion.

I don't post much here, but I liked Maniac. Always was helpful with a quick and knowledgeable reply.
That was my point really, there's lots of E85/86/M knowledge here but relatively less on the E89. I have appreciated the Maniacs help as a relatively new owner. If you're reading this mate, we miss you !

Yeah, it's the Alpina owners who are really condescending... the bastards...

Very sad really I find this forum toibe both informative & friendly and I have yet to find anyone who I wouldnt share a seat with on the bus (not that I ride on buses as a matter of principle :D ) I aways found Maniac's posts interesting and I hope he returns. Having read that post I think it was just one of those situations that got out of control

What I like to see in those cases is the newbie politely asked to use the search facilities, but perhaps drop in a few example threads or example searches. I have been searching for things before and come across a newbie post asking for what I was looking for and the first response was someone listing 3 or 4 good threads. This meant I also found what I want rather than finding a grumpy thready where the guy was told off.

^^ This, especially for replies to newbies.

We even had a "done to death" thread running for a while.

I did, I wished I hadn't - been a few recently.

in my first few months of owning the Z i certainly would have made a lot more posts asking more questions had it not been for his contributions on existing threads and he was always very helpful when i did ask a noobie question.

Hope he sees the light and comes back to the fold

He's a grown adult. To take his bat home over something so minor is a bit pathetic really. I could understand it if there was an orchestrated forum-wide vendetta but it was only a couple of people.

I don't get the fuss. The world moves on. He can sulk or he can man the f*** up.

People are different and whats written on a page isn't necessarily the true inflection of whats being said.
For instance, I sound brilliant on the forum but in reality I'm a total w*nker ;)
i have been told that :D

Relied on his posts to help me install my SmartTop unit. A job that took 30 minutes, would have been at least 2 hours without his pictorial guides.

Shame. his posts were informative and helpful. Problem with forums just like emails and texts is that people misjudge the tone and think people are being rude or umhelpful

Possible another Shipkillers episode? (second page his reasons for pulling out)
