It’s a “next year” job. I miss the days when you could go to a scrap yard and do your research on another car before touching your own.B21 said:Sgr74 said:My roof is bubbling up and is out of its paint warranty. It would be much cheaper in time and effort to remove the seals on the sides of the front shell and mask off the rest of the car.Sgr74 said:My roof is bubbling up and is out of its paint warranty. You'd have to maintain the tension on the mechanism with long zip ties or the specialized BMW tool built for that specific function, heat and remove Loctite glued bolts that should be replaced afterward, ensure that the positioning spacer counts are remembered, and remove the electrical and hydraulic connections from the shell. In reinstalling, you'll have to realign the front shell and adjust for spacing tolerances and correct seating against all adjoining seals.

This is what I hoped it would be. Simply unbolt it. I’ve seen them for sale on eBay so it can’t be that difficult.flybobbie said:Well using some logic, the interior panel pulls off and roof is probably just bolted on.
Looking at old video looks like 4 bolts.

Maybe he chooses to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
