Have to admit -- Dave's got a point.

If you remove the top, then you don't have to worry about the paint on the top anymore. :poke:

And you have a great conversation starter yard ornament.... :rofl:

The ones for sale on eBay are quite probably removed from an already removed assembly, like the one I have for sale.
The four main Torx screws are T30 I believe, and these are a major problem to get out when it's in the car!!!
I have had it off :o a few times, just slide hand in the gap, comes off easy.

Correct, no special tool is required.

Lost lining clips can be taken off by lifting it with a tiny screwdriver for some millimeters and then putting the typical (recommended by me in the Howto section) nail iron between the shell and the clip.
I never loose or destroy one of these white clips.

Since the screws are glued into the shell, it must first be heated with a heat gun (5 mm nozzle, 200 °C). Do not attempt to remove it “cold” as you may destroy these screws.
