Machine monkeys zed

Just been for my first drive in ages with no lights on the dash :) :driving:
The traction control light tyre pressure light and the other one? Turned out to be just different camber left to right. I could see it was out. I have set it by eye and it is much better. I have been playing with the shock settings a bit. And that's working out well.

Just need to figure out a way of getting my car to the garage. For the alignment to be set this Friday! Anyone got the day/ morning off?? I would take the day off but I am using my last day for a track day Monday :driving:

A picture of the zed. I have a lawnmower to fix this weekend if i get time i am planing a few more body work mods. Hopefully a little splitter up front and some side skirt thingy bobs.

I really love this picture. Thanks Logan

Its the only one i have Neil!! The horrendous paint is not viable in this picture

I will get some more soon after this weekends mods if i get them done. And if they go well. I am seriously considering a little spoiler for the boot as well??????

Looking good! Shame it's not sideways tho :P

Wish they did a boot spoiler for the roadster that's the same as the coupe one. Just a subtle lip one

Yeah i know!! I had on dtc mode and with the new diff it was allowing minor slip angles. I was tempted to turn it off but i was enjoying myself i didn't fancy ruining the day!!

Well after seeing what exdos has done. I am following suite in my own way. So if i do it it should be just a little lip.

I had a few weeks without it. I had all sorts of issues with the car. And I actually learnt to dative it better balancing the loud pedal. Instead of mashing it!! :o maybe it's time to turn it off!!

So the second mot in my ownership is due Thursday. Confident it's going to sale through well I hope in dose!!

I am also going to give her a good service. Engine oil and filter gear box oil diff oil. I am finally going to do the CDV delete so new clutch fluid also. Pollen filter check and replace the spark plugs if needed. I have a cone filter on its way. The only real thing left for me to do is DISA valve next month ( mine is ok it just worry me)

My car might not look the best (yet) but mechanically she is tip top. So I can now focus on getting her looking great very shortly.

Well it passed with one advisory (handbrake needs adjusting) no biggie!!
Oil and filter changed.
Expansion tank done coolant changed and system flushed through.
Pollen filter done.
CDV deleted.
Gearbox oil changed.
Didn't get the diff oil in time to do that :( guess that will be a job for the weekend.
I plan to change the air filter and make something to shield it over the weekend too.

So a very happy monkey with a very health monkey machine

Sods law the diff oil arrived at my work yesterday!! Ah well the luxury of doing it with a lift has passed. Back to roiling around underneath the car tomorrow

I must start saving for a lift!!

Hi all i have not posted on hear for a while or on the forum much actually. Life getting in the way and the car has come second fiddle to many other things. I guess that had to happen as i did spend most of my summer working on it!!
So the car is tip top runs great the handling is superb on track but still a bit crazy on the road. I will be changing a few things over the winter and hopping i can find a compromise i like both road and track. I have played a lot with my coil overs and have found where i like them for road and track. In regards to how firm or soft i want it. I have also settled on a high for the car where i can drive it without scraping everything and it handles nice and looks good.

The paint work will be getting done over Christmas i hope. My mate Chris and i have been building a really cool spray booth at his workshop/barn. It was going to be a quick structure covered in polythene. But has quickly morphed into a timber frame with french doors and double glazing!! Thanks to a cheap eBay conservatory and well timed bid. The car will stay silver but a non BMW colour. Its kind of like silver gray. Why am i using this colour??? Well i have the paint and its not costing me anything!! And in the spirit of my car (as much good quality work i can do myself for next to nothing)

Whats next after paint well i am going to strip the whole interior. And put it back together very carefully and with soundproofing. I am going mad listing to all the rattles and squeaks!! and i am going to attempt some sort of seat modification the one i have been trying to do for 18 months now!! After that the car should be mechanically sorted look great and not drive me insane. So i can enjoy a few track days and just drive it next year.

Anyway enough of my ramblings!!

Sounds good Monkey, be sure to take plenty of pics over the coming months, it's always interesting to see what you're doing 8)

So I am finding myself getting well a little bored with the z4 :o :o
Contemplating spraying the car and maybe selling her on?? We plan on getting a dog next year and will need something bigger anyway. And then maybe satisfy an itch and build a kit car!

What do you guys n galls think? Is it just winter blues and not really getting much chance to drive it this year? Will I fall back in love at the first sight of spring?!? Or has the love a fair run it's course?!

You've had your load of issues with the Zed for sure... Building a kit car may be right up your alley but you will miss the power of your 3.0 ? I had the same feeling a while ago but each time I went for a drive, I couldn't stop smiling... 8)
