I think I will be enjoying the car hopefully for the rest of this year once this is done! Then a few cometic mods to the interior the seats mostly. Maybe do something over the winter this year or next. Or sell and just get an M!!

Just getting an M isn't a bad option either, depending on how much money and time you have in the current vehicle. Upside is you have a good car that you are "happy with" (ie: everything works), vs getting a used vehicle (ie: no telling what issues it has).

There is that argument after spending so much time and money on mine recently. In thas year its had all new brakes (up graded grooved things) New coilovers all new bushes every where now (soon) new diff and bearings and seals + the LSD.... Idont know if the wife allowed it i would love to get the M coupe thats for sale on hear. But I am not sure that will happen. Hopefully by the end of the month mine will be running and driving better than ever.

So progress report from last night lots of painting nothing else.

More of the same tonight. With some under body cleaning.

So another long night working on the car cleaning and painting. Its almost ready for re installing as long as some parts arrive before the weekend. If not i will start work on the front end. I will be stripping and painting the trailing arms and installing the bushes Friday evening. I have made a tool that i HOPE will make life easier. If it dose work and any wants to borrow it PM me.

Ok can anyone tell me what i have done wrong? Or do i have the wrong diff?????
IMG_0085_zps81147509.jpg
The bearings are on and seated correctly. But the gear is sitting to high in the picture? Witch means i cant get the diff far enough over to get the bearings to seat. And the cir clip in the other side?????

Turns out they sent me an auto diff not manual :headbang: just as you start to turn the taking apart putting back together corner BAM!!

Still Steve at grinspeed has been grate. Hopefully have the car back together soon. But for now all bets are off!!

 really pissed off it was going back in tomorrow. Ah well another month without the car. I hope it's ready for Christmas!!

Stick with it Mat , your recent M lust is disrupting your focus so forget that & get your motor in fine fettle , move it on then take some time out to study the market

pssshhh, I don't want to hear it. :-P Every time I think I'm making headway on my project, I either run into something that needs to be modified or I get swamped with other life disruptions. :headbang:

Won't be long mate and all will be right in the Machine Monkey world. Roof down drifting will be coming your way soon

I know guys and cant wait to get out in it!! Haven't driven the car for a month now :(

Anyway its packaged up ready for sending back. Hopeful to have the correct one next week.

On the plus side, that's one sparkly clean inner and underside with all the lovely painting and washing you've done

Very true Bing.

So played a bit last night. Removed and relocated the fuel thing that sits behind the drivers side rear wheel. I have put it the other side of the battery box so my new quad can go in. Its not in the way the other side due to me using smaller back boxes. I was also able to bend the existing heat shield around to make it look a very oem set up

Then started finish welding my back boxes...... And one slipped in the vice and natural instinct is to catch...... Well it was bloody hot as i had been welding it...... I got one of these when i woke up this morning

I recommend using the correct protection next time:

Were you not wearing gloves? :?

Get yourself a pair of TIG gloves.

I use them for everything (TIG welding, MIG welding, oxy/acetylene, grilling, etc.) but cutting with a cutting torch and have never been burned (on my hands at least...).
