M140i Collected & Piccies

i would wait for the new reg

i didn't even know there was a 140, i assume this is even better than a 135?
The new version of the twin-turbo 3l has a bit more power (+14hp & 50Nm) but, in truth, the change of name from n35 to n40 for each series will be more of a marketing exercise than anything else as it makes it look like a bigger jump from, say, a 330 to a 340 so they'll be able to charge more for the privilege

The days of the last two digits of the model ID indicating the engine size are over, the marketing droids are in control... :(

Marketing is working though as I know of two people that are trading in 6 months old 135s for 140s. There are some new features in there such as touch screen nav, wifi etc but nothing shocking though.

No price increase though.

Some cheap 135s to be on the market soon then

What puts me off a 135 is the fact that it's better than the z4s and so my weekend toys would loose their appeal

Discount on new is 21%, highest I have ever achieved. Lot of car for the money, and with the discount a better option than the Golf R.

I managed 7.5K on mine which was I was pleased with really as its an awful lot of car for the money compared to anything else at the price point. Changes over the M135i as far as I know is engine B58 over N55, power goes up to 346bhp I think :? I don't think it will sound quite as good as the N55 listening to YouTube vids of the 340i but overall its reckoned to be a much stronger power plant in its design, change over to the 7 Series pro nav/multi media screen, suspension from the M235i/M240i as it was slightly different on M135is, wifi hotspot although haven't specced it. The manual also has throttle blipping facility on change downs to match revs that the M135i didn't have, unsure what use that is :?

Interesting comparison here between the M135i and new Focus RS,

http://www.whatcar.com/news/ford-focus-rs-vs-bmw-m135i/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=enews%20bulletins&utm_content=wcar%20enews%20bulletin%20(22.07.2016

Main reason I swapped over to the M140i is I'm intending to keep it long term so thought while I can would do it now and get a car specced to how I really want it as was a bit tight when I ordered the M135i  I think the M140 will be the last BMW hatch with rear wheel drive and a 6cyl so I think worth keeping long term. Its all change in 2018 to the MINI front wheel/all wheel drive platform and 4cyl which doesn't appeal personally. I will be interested to see how they replace the M140i or whether it will soldier on but in 4x4 guise.

The M140i actually works out cheaper than the outgoing model by £140 or so as the new Auto Box is cheaper for some reason.

I'm toying with the idea of trading the Z3 in for the new VW UP for the other half, really likeing the refreshed model especially in Honey Yellow :)

For my son it is a long term keeper as well. It is also his first car he has saved up for, so it is specced exactly as he wanted it.

I've only 5 months to wait on mine coming

If you're waiting 5 months you're a hero, twos enough for me

Tim.

lol you guys don't know what waiting is lol. I had 9 and half months for my C350e Premium Plus company car to arrive :headbang: The dealer said the panoramic roof added 3 months as they don't have enough roofs.

I couldn't wait 9 months to be honest, I might do if it's a Dacia Sandero :)

I think 2 months has been the max for me but then I've never ordered anything exotic just hum drum BMWs/Audis apart from a Suzuki Swift :)

Received a surprise call from the dealer this morning to say the motor has arrived already :) wow that's pretty quick as only ordered on 20/6 so looks like next week to pick up :) Strange as others on the babybmw site who ordered around the same time are being told Oct/Nov on certain spec cars who were due Sept delivery.

Not a bad 1st car
Not being funny but I don't think I'd be comfortable with either of my kids having that as a first car...
