M135i

The official BMW diff is a dealer fit option, its going to be around £3K plus fitting... Not sure I will need it enough it at this price!

Just been reading the autocar review of the M235i and I cant believe they only managed 6.3 to 60 in it with the manual gearbox that's only 3 tenths quicker than my 330i with the ancient autobox and that never feels like a quick car, they did say the conditions were terrible though and that it would do it in 5 seconds if the conditions were right...that road test will pretty much ruin anyone wanting to go for the manual now I would have thought...not that many do anyway as the majority go with the auto and to be fair you can see why.

It was soaking wet and they provided a car with worn tyres as well Lee. The original M135i managed 4.6 to 60 and 11.something to 100 and that has 10hp less and a little more weight so the M235i will be just as quick in the right conditions. I'd take their time with a pinch of salt. To get a truer idea look at the in-gear acceleration times.

Cheers OG  I like your voice of reason funnily enough I was just comparing the two models 0 to 60 and 0 to 100 and you are spot on M135i 4.6 to 60 and 11.4 to 100 versus 6.3 to 60 and 14.7 to 100 for the M235i...I am so drawn into the M235i as a package and they wax lyrical about the engine too I can see why the owners of the M135/235i are well happy with their choice. :D

Shows someone using the new launch control, and just how fast that auto box shifts....

I am so looking forward to its arrival in June!

Called to ask if I can upgrade my car today and luckily it hasn't gone into production yet.
Updated the Trim and Trim Finishers plus Black Panel display.

Very nearly changed the colour to Sakir but didn't have the balls......Recession White will do for now :D

My son dropped his Renault off at an Indie in Staines today to get the Cams sorted and asked me to pick him up.

I saw a gorgeous M235i on the back of a trailer on the M25 LM14 xxx. White with Red Leather.

ORDERED!!

Thank you guys for all the advice and comments... Went for a final test drive in the M135i (used the Z4M to get me there) this time making full use of the auto box, and guess what I am 100% convinced now so....

I have ordered the M135i with:

The Sport Auto
Estoril Blue
Heated Seats
Business Nav
Comfort pack
Black panel display
Adaptive suspension
Business Speaker system (yes the standard sound system was awful)
Storage pack.

Still have a couple of weeks grace if I need to make an amendment to the above, but pretty happy with my choices.

Got a really good deal; its always a good time to get a deal in April. Now have to wait 8 weeks!

Got back in the Z4M after ordering the car, its a big difference between the two; but the smiles will always be bigger in the Z4 on a day like this.....

Martyn - i ordered mine on Saturday 19th April. My dealer told me initially i would see it by second week of June. But today he told me i might expect to see the car in May, the spec got locked down ready for build more or less straight away, hopefully yours will be in the same batch. are you on babybmw.net as well, some good info on there about the cars.

Hi John

Brilliant, the cars are going to be built together, my car was locked down yesterday for build. I added to my initial order spec adding the adaptive headlights too. Exciting I I get my car in May too!! Yes I am also looking at babybmw too, lots of interesting stuff indeed.

I look forward to comparing notes with you one they both arrive.

Yep, the adaptive lights are ace, particularly high beam assist.... I ordered a lot of options on mine as per my earlier post on this thread, but skipped extended storage, I am wondering if I will regret that, but I try and keep as little stuff as possible in my cars so hopefully the armrest and glovebox will be enough. I've never found the z4m annoying in this regard and that has less cubby holes than most cars I've had.

Only thing I wish was on it is active cruise control... But apparently the 1er doesn't have that yet....

Your car will be fully loaded! :-) Mine almost full! Anyway, I think the key elements to this car are the auto gearbox, adaptive suspension and adaptive lights.

BTW are you not keeping the Z4M? Very different animals, with the Z4M being raw back to basics in comparison to the M135i; and of course a proper sunroof!!!

Looking forward to delivery!

no, I'm downsizing. the Z4M barely gets used due to it being too small for my needs.i always end up in my boring diesel insignia. so I'm getting rid of the insignia and the M and just running the M135i as a compromise. i was planning to get an M4, but the other half lost her job and so that plan has been revised somewhat for the time being.....

I'm hoping it will walk down the middle of those 2 extremes quite nicely, i certainly felt that it will do that from the demo i had. the adaptive suspension made the car for me, its almost like 2 cars in one when you flick between sport and comfort!

yes, i'll let you know if i get any new delivery news from sytner.....

Argghhhh i want one now!

I'm thinking of getting rid of my e89 after the summer (hopefully get some sunshine)... I've only had the zed for 9 months but after test driving the 135i I'm in love with it. So much power and the interior is great. The Zed interior is now very outdated.

M4 was another option but it'll be way too expensive as its so new.

This guy I've been following on zpost used the Big Brake System of the 135I on a Zed, looks killer as shizz!

big anchors are good, though I think my Z4 breaks are that size anyway at least...

Ahhh I see, understand that dilemma. I have a Seat Exeo as a daily drive currently, its so sensible but so boring; so the M135 will replace that. Could not use the Z4 as a daily drive, not enough room and in reality too much of a driving machine. The M135i does do both, as you say the adaptive suspension and auto box sees that it does what both cars do except.... no air in the hair and depreciation... I am lucky to have space in the garage to keep the Z4M for sunny days, and I would guess its value (as it is unmolested and virtually mint) will only increase.

I think many people including myself would disagree with this. The E89 interior was a good change and a bit different from the norm of BMW. The feel of the m135i interior is nice and it's a nice place to be but it's very much to the standard look of bmws.

You must also keep in mind that when you test drive a car the garage has usually spec'd it to look great, something that joe public can get wrong because it's their car and what they like but not actually that appealing to others.

I assume on your E89 you stuck with a standard dash ie no leather or wood trim just the big, bulky silver trim?

It's each to their own but one thing the E89 is not is dated, inside or out. If we were comparing a E85 to the F20 & F21 then yes a bit dated now but no, the E89 interior is not dated. Possibly in your combination hence why you feel like that with the F20/F21 being a breath of fresh air

I came from a E88 120 and 135 and the interior on them wasn't dated either because BMW tend to get it right, especially if you avoid the standard trim specs and pay the extra to make it that little bit more special.

I have no idea what an E89 looks like inside... My Z4M has the most perfect interior and dash for the car that it is, no silly satnav, the original owner speced the leather carbon effect finish which is really nice, it just has the key things you need to drive, revcounter, speedo and oil temp!! Even the radio/cd stays off!

Now for the M135i I have on order its totally different, it will have the Black Pannel dash and satnav, idrive etc....

But would I want these in my Z4N.... NO it would ruin it...
