I read a post a few months back about them planning a facelift for the 1 series already as its been pretty much universally mocked for its front end looks. I believe they're planning on making the headlights smaller, which I think is the main issue with the current model. The main lamps are over sized. From most other angles its not a bad looking car at all.
Yeah, there was a thread about that on a few 1 series forums but it turned out it was confusion caused by 1addicts posting spy shots of the new active tourer and speculating that it was a face lifted F20 (perhaps wishful thinking by many ). The rumour has been quashed now that the patented designs for the active tourer bumper and headlights have been published.
I would imagine the F20 will get the usual BMW LCI treatment after 4 years the same as every other model. BMW are selling a massive number of f20s due to the deals they are offering. They are also selling way more M135i's than they expected due to the reviews this car is getting along with the deals it also has on it. This is why order lead times have extended by about a month recently. My dealer told me that in January they took as many orders for M135i's as they took for 116i's and that the 1 series was their best selling model overall.
Just ordered a 116i 5 door in Estoril blue. Mainly for SWMBO, looks better in 'M' sport trim and in that colour. She wanted 4 doors and didn't like the 3 series saloon. Looked at the new 'A' class but the wait was longer and the part ex was lousy so it was an easy decision.
