M market watch

Well unfortunately I have left the club.

I had given myself another year to see if it worked for me from my last toe dip in a sale. The brutal reality with 3 of us it wasn’t getting used at all. And much as an appreciating car was nice to have. The monthly outgoings are still high on an ornament.

What I wasn’t expecting was it being chopped in.

LT07XXN 6 owners, 39k carbon black/black/carbon leather.

With a WBAC price of around £16k, a bmw direct buy of £18k and a px of £18k. Synter actually ended up at £20.5k on a px. Yes I could have possibly got a little more but was aiming at £22k private and the difference did seem to be worth the agro. Plus something I wanted came up so she went yesterday.

Will see if it crops up... damn will miss that engine.

It sounds like you got a decent value, with no hassle out of it! But you’re right, they’re not cheap ornaments to run

TBH, I think that's a decent part ex-value and certainly worth avoiding the zombies who want the car for nothing. I'm guessing they'll retail it at £25k and see if they can flip it. What did you buy in the part ex then?

Interesting post and close to home for me. Had mine since 2010 but usage dropped dramatically when I had my first child and now I’m 8 months in to being a father of 2 I recon I’ve done less than 1000 miles so far this year.

Lucky enough to have use of a second garage for the Z, but can’t help thinking I’d be better off with an E92 M3 or C63 to make weekly use more likelt. 2 seats with 1 child gets some use, but with 2 it’s much less likely. 911 looks good on paper but doesn’t get me excited for some reason. E46 M3 rust concerns me.

Good to hear that values are reasonable. Mine is a 2 owner car (inc me) with just over 30k on it. That said, private sales seem to be painful these days so trade in to a specialty may be the way forward for me.

Yep on the PX, I had zero expectation of them getting anywhere near an acceptable figure. Took about an hour of bouncing a couple of dealerships bidding on the car and it finally crept up.

I couldn’t face m3/c63 bills so got an old man VW hot hatch with a dull turbo engine which in fairness just goes about its busisness, adaptive suspension for she who must be obeyed and 4 doors.. still it’s lots of fun to chuck about.. defiantly no s54 though.

Confused.com's valuation for my car (2008, 69k) just jumped three grand in the past month, to £19.1k private and £17.6k trade-in.

It was always about £3k under the autotrader valuation, so I wonder whether this is some kind of market analyst's adjustment or whether there has actually been some movement in values? Certainly doesn't feel that way at the moment and it's the wrong time of year for it. :?

Seems the used car market in general is seeing strong residuals for prestige cars .
I threw the details of our C Class estate into WBAC last week & nearly slid off the sofa :P their offer price was £50 less than i paid 3 years ago & adding 17k to the clock .

Just checked mine again and the valuation has jumped up just over £2k since I last did it in June.

Likely the road tax hike in March 2017 has something to do with it - there aren’t many of our C300h hybrid estates on zero road tax for sale, only 3 on eBay with shed loads of miles

Looks like tertius' "fully loaded" Z4MC is back on sale. Nice pics too.

 2006 Z4M convertible with 77k just sold on ebay for £10,600. I was watching it with a view of having a cheeky bid but got roped into helping with preparing dinner

That's such a fine car, total bargain for someone wishing to take the car down that kind of road.
I'm about to put Intrax 1k2 on my car and the bill will be about 4.5k (albeit slightly different spec).
Those tillets, the Apex’s, the ap's, recent engine rebuild, not much short of caging it could make it any more hardcore yet I bet it's a joy to drive on the road as is.

I got my '07 Z4MR for £10,700 from a local dealer. I did get a pretty good P/X on the JCW Mini towards it.

What sort of mileage and service history?

It's got a full service history, mix of BMW and a BMW specialist. It had 96,000 on the clock and is in very, very good condition inside and out. I was also given a warranty with the car. It's got a nice folder filled with all of it's receipts since new. It's last service was done by the dealers garage. It seems to have the uprated sound system (going by the guides on here).

When I get the car serviced etc, Mark Purcell will be the BMW specialist who will do all the work, as he looked after my Poppa's E46 M3 Convertible. He's fairly well known and respected around the Oxford area for BMW's

My old man use to be a car valeter/detailer for 20 years and he gave the car a really good going over last weekend. Bar a few tiny chips, the paint is in very good condition and bar the drivers side seat bolster, the inertia is unmarked or even that worn. Everything in the car works fine and from what I understand, the Sat Nav seems to have been updated as I have the 3D perspective when I put the Nav on. The Nav's disc drive is a black coloured DVD drive.
