I have a 2004 e85 2.5i that I've had a while and have the BMW standard tools (INPA, NCS, etc.) and ISTA and a compatible OBD cable, which works great to help me keep the car on the road and running top notch. I just purchased a 2006 Z4MR and will be traveling this Friday (3-DEC) to inspect, finalize purchase and drive it home. I'm planning to take my laptop with the BMW software and cable since I'd like to check the various systems on the Z4MR before forking over the check.
The 2004 Z4 has the MS45.0 ECU. The 2006 Z4MR has the MSS70 ECU.
Will my current BMW software, INPA, NCS, ISTA, etc. and cable work on the Z4MR? Or is the protocol different and will require a different OBD cable? I've searched to see if there are differences, but have not had luck finding out the answer (maybe I'm google-challenged...)
Any help or links to info is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Tom
