Luke and his Z - Getting there!

  :headbang: :headbang:
So, it is official... I am an IDIOT!!! haha! The nipple is suppost to stay in that part of the brake line so i was faffing for no reason. MUPPET!!

I am confused now!
I thought that was the brake lines going into the calipers that you were removing :o
Anyway keep up the info........so when I do it I'll make less screw ups. I'm already one ahead of you by buying the wrong brakes

Nicely done with wrong brakes!!! If your gonna screw up... Do it properly I guess
No, that was the brake line that was on the new brake callipers I just bought. They had left the end of the line in :)

Luke you may want to look at this for the rears.
The guy had to fabricate new parking brake shoes to get the 330 brakes to fit. It an awesome write up but not for the faint hearted. I downloaded the PDF document.
IS THERE A SIMPLER WAY???? :o

Damn!!! That looks like a real PITA!!!

I'll have the bits off hopefully tomorrow. The brake shoes and new spring set for the handbrake came through today so will be attacking this tomorrow afternoon.
Front callipers and carriers are all painted up from today and ready to go on the car hen I get in.
Will get the rear callipers etc apart and painted too and will have a look at getting the rears started. Will get plenty of pics along the way and try and figure out if there is an easier way  here is to hoping!!

It gets worse
From another forum.

"The rear calipers won't line up and the e-brake won't fit (different diameter). A 330i has a completely different trailing arm/bearing hub, so you have to swap that too. And even then you can mount the brakes, but still it doesn't fit properly because then you have wrong track width! (z4 has different track width than a e46). The z4 achieves this by a different drive flange hub. And if you swap that... you've guessed it.... the calipers won't line up. So there is no correct 1:1 swap.
To make it work you'll have to make something like adjusting washers between caliper carrier and trailing arm/bearing hub (which you still have to swap). Or do something like I did (make your own e-brake shoes and remanufacture/remake parts etc). Then you have complete technical freedom."

Hope you can come up with something. You obviously have the right equipment to manufacture spacers etc

Look what sprung into my car today!

215/35/19s going on the front today. Sort out that annoying rubbing before i get the coilovers on.

Brake update... I am moving next weekend and so time i thought i was going to have has been dashed away with having to refit a kitchen, paint rooms, wire in sockets etc etc etc... I AM KNACKERED! So will finish them ASAP! I have an idea too with the rear brake issue which SHOULD (assuming the idea works) only take about 10 mins to do... :D Will reveal more once tested!

Looking good and nice buy with the coilovers! Are you going much lower or doing it so you can adjust the bounce etc? Will look at coilovers once ive purchased some rims. . . once I've decided which ones! Think im swaying towards same as yours for the phoenix will look good.

Anyway best of luck with the move hope you get all the little jobs done AND find time to tinker with the car!
