Any pics of the spun shell ?
I have rebuilt numerous S54's over the years that have spun the bearing and the crank is ALWAYS marked.. Especially one that is knocked that hard...
Have they removed the cam cover too ?

OP don't drop all this money into it and sell it, you wont recoup anything, may as well run it till it for the foreseeable, even if you stick it in the garage for abit and forget about it if you decide to try something else.

T1berious said:Right, the last time it was in was last year and it had an Inspection II 2015 so it's due one. I have done a video and currently looking at decent local indies as I've seen horror stories from main dealers with costs north of 4k.....
Last oil change would be last year. It has always gone to a main dealer.

They’ll likely to have shafted the con rods as well won’t they Gaz?
the size tolerance for the crank is quite small. about 0,015mm (0,6 thou ")Z4M-2006 said:In my experience though it always marks the crank, sometimes not fatally and can be dressed back if customer doesn't want to spend ..
I thought it was rather slow for the bottom end (and quite fast for the head).the noise frequency seemed way to fast for bottom end...
T1berious said:Well, to the guys who said it wasn't bottom end...
You were right!
Big ends replaced and noise remains. Engine now going to be removed and stripped.
Ouch!
