Yes, Matt, for Non-CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) vehicles that are still covered under the New Car warranty, you can purchase an extended warranty. I looked into this when I was shopping for an X3. It was a dealership loaner vehicle that had 10,000 miles on it. The New Car warranty covered it thru 4 years from the original in-service date (ISD) and up to 50,000 miles. BMW would not CPO it (which covers up to 6 years from ISD or 100,000 miles), but I was offered the option to purchase the extended warranty that covers up to the 6yrs and 100,000miles.

I just found out the car I looked at seller stated sport package, however it doesn't have that option. Just has "sports group options.

...I was impressed with the car and am buying it - should pick it up Thursday 
I think I got a very deal and will have some cash left over from the sale of my Lotus...which I need to spend on the wheels - these are the star spoke composite 108s which I love but are in a sad state...not kerbed or abused, just corroding around some of the studs. Has anyone had these succesfully refurbished or are they toast?
I had a very interesting weekend...finding a car and finding out that 'Ignitor' lives across the road from me!!! Hi Ignitor - thanks for the tour of your lovely motor and I look forward to returning the favour later in the week

I know what you mean Ben - there does seem to be so many options and it's not clear which come with each model :scratchhead: I think you just have to decide what is important to you and try to find a car with those options ... or just get lucky like I have :happyclap:

This is basically another way to persuade people to buy new bimmers instead of used ones.
What you mentioned in your post is actually a whole different thing from the extended service warranty that BMW offers. Each BMW dealer might use a different 3rd party company to extend the car's bumper-to-bumper warranty and "techinically" you'd be dealing with that particular company for claims instead of dealing with BMW directly, and you usually have to pay a deductible in this case. It does get confusing because BMW dealers typically advertise and sell the 3rd party extended warranty themselves - at their own dealerships.
The CPO is again a whole other story. It's only offered on used BMW's that are sold at BMW dealers, and the cars need to pass particular inspections in order to be CPO certified. Although some people have had luck in convincing a dealer to buy their cars, CPO them, and sell the customers back their own cars the same day - all for a couple of grands.

... oh, and don't ask, I'm not telling how she broke it. I'll let her tell the story if she wants.

The extended maintenance warranty has no deductible. I was talking about the 3rd party extended bumper to bumper warranty that charges the deductible.
It's possible that when you bought your Z4 used, the original owner had already bought the extended maintenance warranty (since it follows the car)? Either that, or sounds like the dealer simply added the extended maintenance warranty to the car before you officially signed the sales contract.
