Look out UK!

Will do. I might just ship the car real real soon soon. Haven't decided. Hmmm I could ship it on a friday....yeah that'd be nice. Either way I'll keep people updated. I think I'll travel to london wearing my z4-forum t-shirt, so if anyone see's me feel free to stop me and say hi!

Hmmm, the big debate inside of me right now.....
Going away cruise?

I haven't narrowed down a shipment day for the car yet, but when I do the shippers are only open Monday - Friday. I'm thinking take one day of leave (probably monday) to drop the car off. If I choose to drop it off in L.A. I have the whole weekend to "play". The other option is San Diego, but due to financial constraints I'm crossing that off my list.
Tentative details (depending on interest shown I'd start another thread):
This will be sometime in August (probably first couple of weeks)
General L.A. area.
I'm undecided on coastal run or not (well a run period)
General closeness of carwash type spots as the car is supposed to be fairly clean when I drop it off
I'm not looking for anything major, more of a hang out enjoy California weather before I go to cold/rainy weather. I will attempt to not drive above 7/10ths so I don't damage the car, but the right foot gets heavy on cruises.

If you're driving I can recommend La Clusaz; it's closer than Chamonix and having visited last season I can heartily recommend it. Useful to have a little french, but you can generally get by with lots of pointing and speaking loudly. ;)

The Goodyear Eagle F1s that a lot of people rave about apparently perform very well in our typically wet conditions. I'm switching to a set in the very near future.

The F1 all seasons?

I'm thinking ahead (read worried) about how the PS2's (performance summer) will handle the wet/cold of England.

98% of people run summer (read: normal) tyres all year round over here Aebous. You should be fine so long as you have some meat on them :)

Sure you get plenty of rain and very occasional snow, but normal tyres are fine. Snow tyres wont help you in the ice much, you just gotta watch the weather forecasts, temp gauge and whether there is salt on the roads or not!

Yeah the salt worries me too. Are there places over there that will put a coating on the car to help protect from salt?

I wouldn't worry about it, the Z4 was designed for European climates and most parts will be well galvanized. That and the fact that most of the suspension, bodywork and engine are all aluminium :)

If you have 108's though you may want to put about 100 coats of wax on them every few weeks ;)

I hope ya'll locked up the little ones, because as of 10:45am local time I was gear down in London.
Now I'm in my billeting room at RAF Lakenheath.
So if anyone wants to come o knockin....I'm here!
(No means of transportation yet)

Welcome to the UK.

I know a lot of the old faces aren't as active on the forum as they were before, but it would be great to meet up and share a beer.

Might have to wait until you get your Snow Chains first...
