Look out UK!

I think I've asked this before and it's probably posted elsewhere....
But how wide is the car mirror to mirror? I can't seem to find it. I've looked on car sites but isn't the width the measurement to the tires?
I'm about to start looking at places, primarily picking places with garages, so that's why I'm asking (again?)

I'm up for a meet this weekend, if someone lets me ride in their car :poke: :poke: :poke:

Welcome to the UK. :) Did you get your Z4 lighting sorted for the MOT? If you need any help just let me know.

Nope, not yet. Figured I'd see what the butchers er people on base will do for me. If they come up with a rubbish idea for it I'll go with the brake light mod thinger posted.

So far it's been hit or miss. I'm about half an half for beers I liked vs those I didn't.
That said, they've all been drinkable which I'm pretty picky and if I don't like it I usually won't drink it.

I went to the shopette, I think they had like 2 english beers available, bx of course had none. I didn't notice any in the commissary (didn't expect too). Next stop is figuring out where the class six is. I'm thinking this weekend of trying to procure some original brown bottle heineken, not our imported stuff.

Ya'll are going to hate me.
I DO have to pay a TV Tax
I DO have to pay a road Tax

I DO get 100% of that reimbursed from the military. Life is good :poke: :poke: :poke:
So now that I'm done bragging. About how much will I have to pay for road tax?

I haven't been to the place that does it yet, but I have heard from coworkers that they install external lights as required to the car. So yeah I'll probably need some help. Mostly just routing the wire. I pulled up the carpet in the trunk, couldn't quite figure out how to get a light wire through the metal to the underside of the car.

Such a shame one of the northern monkeys 8) couldn't have brought you down to John's excellent Wales meet, would have been a cracking introduction to the best roads we have here.

Welcome!

Seems a shame to add an external light.. I guess you could tidy it later but you'd have holes to fill.

Road Tax should be around £215 a year mate :) That is until next April when itll go up to around £300 iirc

That was mostly my fault Andy, I haven't been keeping a close eye on the meets. If someone nearby is going on one and wants to grab me it'd be better right now to send me a PM and hopefully I'll get it in time.

Yeah, I know once the car is here I'll be chiming in and demanding a meet straight away. Till then I'm plenty fine being a passenger (even if I do keep walking to the wrong side of the car to get in)....especially if we end up going towards the larger cities as I'm still fighting my American instincts.
Just remember, in my LHD car I won't be able to pass as easy (if at all) unless someone uhm "guides" me.

They did tell us today that we can drive 30 days with our US plates. I'll try to keep that to a minimum of course.

Hey does anyone have any good recommendations for an independent mechanic near Lakenheath (or even Bury, St Edmonds or New Market since my house is closer to those cities)

mmm-five uses a guy in Braintree, Essex that he likes (and travels from Liverpool for). IIRC.

Might be worth joining upto the UK's biggest motoring forum www.pistonheads.com - and looking for the East Anglia section, lots of events going on and a good group of guys.

Thanks, I had been racking my brain trying to remember what the big car link ya'll are always talking about on here.

Hopefully mmm-five will chime in with more info, 49 minutes isn't too bad a drive, unless I have to leave the car...

PMW in Chelmsford were recommended by AdamD, although I've heard some bad things about them too.

Hallmark in Heybridge always seem pretty good, BMW specialists - couple of people here used them for service/coding of car.
