London attack

Quakers are pretty amazing. There is even a sect of 'non-theistic friends', ie Quakers that don't believe in a deity. There was a branch in Yorkshire a few decades back that operated safe houses so that IRA members could get away, (the IRA and Islam have identical attitudes to apostasy). I believe the Saudis have a similar program for Islamic extremists. Anyway, Quakers, good people, they put themselves out trying to make the world a better place.

A relation of mine was an English Quaker. Francis Fincher . Whom was run out of England by the king. He came to the American colony in Philadelphia. http://mlwood.home.mindspring.com/fincher-francis.html

I am not surprised when some of their supporters over here also try and inflict theirs in return.

Some cultures have a history of barbaric violence using machetes, even against their neighbours children, and we welcome their race, then we are shocked when it happens here.

Let other countries rule and behave as they want, and keep it away from our doorstep.

Enoch Powell's prediction will happen, it's just a matter of time.

sentence by sentence..

actually we were invited into Afghanistan.

all cultures have a history of barbaric violence, the murder rate in the UK is between a twentieth and a fiftieth of what it was five hundred years ago.

if only it was that simple but countries act in their best interest and often intervention is required. A stitch in time saves nine.

Enoch was being rhetorical, he was looking across the pond at the segregationist battles and saw a possible parallel could be played out here within a couple of decades, which would have been the mid80s. Clearly he was wrong, unless it was the Brixton riots? Which if IRC was two dozen cars set alight and a looting party. Or was it the the Tottenham murder of PC Blakelock in 1985? Whichever, there were no rivers of blood and no backlash against immigrants.

I think your 'doomed we are all doomed' take on the murder yesterday is somewhat overblown.

I am not just talking about Afghanistan, but everywhere the Americans (and English 'puppets') 'help out', to see their flags burned on every street.

I said 'barbaric violence with machetes'

A stitch in time saves nine ..and they get 911? ....that is the result of 'meddling'

I said 'it will happen' (future)

and his rhetoric is coming to fruition gradually, there will be more backlashes because of this, and these will gradually build up and build up as more atrocities happen.
As I see it sometime in the future the predominantly ethnic areas filled with mosques, halal shops and sari sellers, will then be attempted to be 'taken back' as it was 'England first' .
Unfortunately racial harmony is upset big style by exactly this type of act.
I see the religious leaders are in urgent talks with our government to try and prevent a backlash over this, when they really should be guiding their own people first to live and let live in a country that do not hold their beliefs, but have accepted them into our system.

Good luck Ste.

Your posts are extremely well written. I take my hat off to you.

My son is also currently part way through the application process for a commission in the Royal Marines. He had his medical this week. I can completely relate to Carol's feelings but he's an adult and he's thought this through for some time. He has my full support. If he gets in I suspect I'll be proud then age 10 years the second he's deployed.

it's hardly a work of genius though; most of us would happily allow friends under our roof to help them, but the deed may sour a little if they do not wish to help themselves, or they try and turn your home into their home. and tell you that you're wrong for going out to work. and try and make your missus dress differently.

yep, I would foresee mild tensions...

I'll not make a sentence by sentence response.
But concerning the first one. Sounds as if your actually going to blame America for the middle eastern issues. While our government is by no means innocent. If one wants to see the start of an escalation of middle eastern problems. Then look no further than England and France who penned the treaty of Versailles.

The treaty of Versailles and it's effects on future events is what we are and have been seeing since it's signing in 1919. (which said treaty the Americans refused to sign) The English and French politicians are the one's who conveniently carved up Europe and monetarily punished Germany. Thereby setting up the powder keg that would explode to become WWII. The English and French politicians also carved up the Ottoman empire and divided it up amongst them selves. Being as how the middle east is in general a tribal society. Making all those new lines on the map and appointing one leader over many differing tribes caused more problems than the middle east already had. Of course the middle east now had a scapegoat to blame (the west) Then in the 40's and 50's. Your politicians along with the French decided that the middle east was not worth the trouble and started the process of handing it over to us. And of course the American politicians F****D it up even more. But we by no means started it.
The above is concerning the politicians and not the citizens of England or France.

Something to look at. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-500803_162-3505760-500803.html

I don't know the facts about all this, so accept your points about who started it.

The question that needs answering is Who is going to end it?

An horrific attack , should never happen on the streets of London , my condolences to the soldiers family.

The politicians and the media must stop calling these guys terorists , as 'one mans terrorist is amother mans freedom fighter' , which instantly splits people into groups ( yes ! groups is my thing ). Why cant they describe such acts as , say, a crime against humanity, the community or society ,then its a crime against everyone .

I feel Powells prediction will happen, there was a discussion last week i was asked my thoughts on , gave my thoughts and was slaughtered , ok I took a step back, I saw what the OP done as just another brick in the wall . Today that wall has escalated 10 fold , I do fear for the future of the inner cities .

The trouble today in Afgahnistan can be traced back to the Indian uprising of 1857. The indian conscripts would not bite of the powder catridges for their guns as they believed they contained animal fat ie from the pig , probably one of many issues they had that time . It wasnt right to start a Jihad from India as it is a holyland , so the jihad was inittaited from Afganistan ,today our troops are fighting the shadows of that uprising. Should they be their ? personnaly I think not .

I do feel that the English must take their country back , the alienated, disenfranchised working classes are on a hiding to nothing at this time and the government dont see it. Yes , I do fear for the future . :(

To most of us in our culture it doesn't matter who started it. But for some it does. They hold on to the past with a death grip. A good example is the plight of the discrimination against blacks in America. I have seen black leaders in the not to distant past say that they (blacks) must get back at or stick it to the white man for the sin of slavery. There's not a black American that has been a slave for 3 generations. Nor has there been a slave owner for 150 yrs. in America. Yet even in our modern society that has made huge leaps and has tried to make things right. We still have some blacks that hate whites simply based on what happened in the past. Just look at the issue of reparations in America. It is changing in regards to American blacks and the past. But apply this to a middle eastern culture that still lives in a tribal society. Even if the west got out totally. It wouldn't change a thing. Because the past will always be one their minds.

I do love how Engish (and the rest of the UK) always seem to go on about 'our country' and try to make out we are the nice people.... I'll take a guess that 99% of the people on here can trace their family back to 'immigrants'

perhaps some of the older members will remember globes and maps in school that were mostly pink.... oh yes, the British Empire, something which we claimed with pride that the sun never sets on...

How did we get all that?? turning up with tea and beating everyone at tiddlywinks??? Or did we rape, pillage, kill, bomb, and create mass hysteria... create terror?? hmmm...

Also please remember, that it was us, yes the British, that invented concentration camps... another fine product of brutality from a war situation....

I'm not taking anything away from the poor guy that's been killed, more pointing out that all these comments about 'us', 'our country' and 'they cause the problems' is both crass and uncouth....

I do get sick of people pointing the finger at the Empire - the world has had many many countries that have built empires - every country that has played a leading role on the world stage has a history that by today's standards appears barbaric - and no one that is around today can realistically identify individually, so the "us" that invented concentration camps can still be the "us" that hopes for safe streets to live in.

Thanks both. I may be a fair bit younger then alot of you on here and certainly have differing viewpoints then most but I'm pleased I can still in the most part have reasoned and articulated debates with you all

So as I said....it doesn't matter who started it.

It doesn't matter that "we" British may all be hypocrites if in our history we did the same.

The fact remains that in modern times (i.e. now!) this is not acceptable behaviour (in our culture). If it was, no one would bat an eyelid.

It wasn't long ago that "hanging" was still used in this country (I think) but nowadays, that would be deemed wrong.

So, when I work out how to end it, I wont post on here with my solution, cos I'll be collecting my world peace prize!!!!!

Just as an extension of this discussion, just watched the first half of this week's Question Time whilst slumming it on the tube - some interesting discussion and debate on that about this issue.

kevinmarkwhite, I could be wrong, but is the death penalty still in place for treason ?

NDB, remember you cannot negotiate with a terrorist, the IRA should be a clear demonstration of this. You can only ever take away the reason of 'their cause' to defeat them... George Bush did this for the UK after 911 when he stated any terrorist that commits an act against a duly elected & democratic government is an enemy of America.

Overnight the US, who historically provided their biggest support solved mainland attacks on the UK, though it continues to simmer in Ireland as too many old memories.

So, I've given you all the solution, now it's down to you to work out how to execute (word chosen intentionally) a plan
