Liam's Z4C race car project

I'll write more later, with video, but here's the short version.

Car was fantastic. Class pole, win and fastest lap.

Lap one, turn two was perhaps my luckiest escape ever. I saw my RHS wing mirror go dark and turned out of the corner as a Golf came shooting across the grass. Just the lightest of touches...

Feel sorry for the Cayman owner - he got shoved and baled 'for safety' only to be hit again by the golf!

Great reactions though Liam

I thought it looked like you got a touch. Hell of a reaction to avoid a harder nudge though - very impressive!

Also great news to hear all the hard work you're putting into the car is paying off with wins!!! Great to see someone campaigning a Coupe too, such a rare thing on a race track 8)

Great result Liam. I've just watched the compilation video Malcolm Edeson has put together of the lap 1 incident...code brown! Great effort to avoid some nasty damage there.

A 1.05.6 lap is pretty decent around the National as well!

That was lap 2 with an almost-full tank. 1:05.2 in qualifying (not a clear lap) 8)

The car is good for a 1:04 in ideal conditions.

I don't normally keep pounding round in qualifying once the tyres are past their best. But with 40 cars on such a short track I had to somehow find a gap. I did two practice in-laps during qualifying, which also helped to cool the tyres down a little. And you've got to find the braking point for the pit lane speed limit line...

If I hadn't sneaked class pole by 0.03s then I would have been on the outside for the start :o

Well done 8)
Poor driving from the Golf, never looked like he would get stopped in time. Gutted for the white BMW, that was probably a right mess

Really impressive to get a Claas win Liam. :winner:

And so lucky to avoid getting caught up in the early chaos. :o

Good luck for the rest of the seaon.

Great video and brilliant to see the Z4 on the track. Thanks for all the updates you have been putting up on here.

All the best for the next race will be watching for sure

Not 100% confirmed, but looks something like this:

16-May: BRSCC Clubsport Trophy, Croft (no spectators)
29-May: 750MC Roadsports, Croft (only if I really want to go straight back!)
12-Jun: 750MC Roadsports, Brands Hatch
17-Jul: 750MC Roadsports, Snetterton (unless I decide to focus on BRSCC)
25-Jul: BRSCC Clubsport Trophy, Snetterton (unless I decide to focus on Roadsports)
07-Aug: 750MC Roadsports, Silverstone (international circuit)
26-Sep: BRSCC Clubsport Trophy, Donington Park
10-Oct: BRSCC Clubsport Trophy, Snetterton

I think you should concentrate on Roadsports AND BRSCC as then you'll be at Snetterton three times.
Not that I'm biased at all................

Brilliant Liam well done again  I was trying to find the race at Croft today on you tube but couldn`t find it anywhere but I have just checked the results and you came second overall but noticed that first and third are INV . I take it that means invited/invitational so does that mean technically that you came first :D . What a result just a shame I didn`t get to see it .

How was the race ?

Thanks! They gave me the big trophy, so yes, it was an overall win :)

It was live streamed on BRSCC's channel - race starts at 5h12m https://youtu.be/lwoc-ggDKPo?t=18771

Cheers Liam .
Sods law I put on you tube this morning and it came up as a recommendation !! It was rather wet and could tell the tyres were going at the end . Really pleased for you

Finally got my video up. Most of the action was first and last 5 minutes, so it's a short highlights video.

https://youtu.be/-JiUeqOtZ2E

First time at Croft since 2007 and first race with BRSCC Clubsport Trophy (class B).

Nearly put it on overall pole but track limits rules have changed since the last time I was there and my best times were deleted.

Heavy rain in the 30 minutes before the race forced me onto wet tyres, but the rain stopped as we left assembly to form up on the grid. They were the right tyres to be on, but after lap 5/6 I couldn't go any faster as the track slowly dried. Ultimately got caught and passed by a 220bhp Fiesta on racing wets but he was in an invitation class on that special rubber and I took my first outright win in a long time.

Decided to not head straight back to Croft for Roadsports this coming weekend, so the next outing will be at Brands Hatch. Car just needs an oil change (and a damn good clean!) 8)
