Interesting question Tim, I think I am in the camp of a bit of a novelty. But like many watch/accessory enthusiasts I would prefer to wear a nice watch. I have always wanted a Tag and am lucky enough to be in the position to buy a F1 Chronograph tomorrow (maybe). I don't really see smart watches (even the Tag Connect) as something to aspire to. Also at the pace technology moves they will devalue, wear out and be out of date relatively quickly, where as my Tag 2000 still looks great, runs well and considering it is pretty old (but in good condition) is worth a decent amount of it's original price.
My girlfriend wears a microsoft band and whilst it is handy, aside from heart rate, everything else can be accomplished by looking at a phone.
That said, I wouldn't say no to an Apple watch if someone gave me one..
