I reckon something is out of line, either the roof or the a pillar etc, but as they wouldnt send it away to their so called monsoon centre, I guess I'll never know. When the DP told us it wasn't going to the monsoon centre, but instead having more seals changed, he was adamant it would fix it. At the time we said to him he couldn't be so sure cos they simply dont know what is wrong, and are guessing. The point of the monsoon centre was to stop the guessing and messing at the dealer. He wanted us to wait until this stage before rejecting....had we done so, we would be 3 weeks delayed.
I think other people have had leaks fixed with seals, but mine was always a "bugger" and dont forget, its done it from the very start (I think within a week of collection). So if a car is generally ok, then starts to leak, it may well be the seals that are failing.
I asked for 3 things....replacement car, auto box, cash compensation. He's always said if a replacement is authorised it will be "like for like" and has always put the auto box (hill start) down.
It was put to me that if I didn't want a replacement, and was happy to keep this one, then they might give me £1500 - £2000 instead. Whilst thats a nice amount of cash, we would never be happy with this car, so that isn't good enough.
I dont think he has pushed our case very hard in respect of getting us extra compensation. He said to me today no other compensation, and the replacement car would basically be taking us back to where we should've been on day 1.
ok, but the car was still sold with a missing feature, and to say its going back to day 1 is totally ignoring the hassle we've had. I shall at least be pushing for the £350 that seems standard for hill start, and also want something for the hassle, cos thats not fair.
However, it could be they wouldn't normally swap the car due to a leak, and they've done so because of the hassle, so I'll have to see.
If they wont budge, and are adament its like day 1, then they can pay the £150-200 to have it detailed, like I did the day after I collected it (and my salesman knows thats genuine).
Failing any extra compo, the main thing for us was getting it replaced cos we just dont have confidence in it now. The fact that this weeks work still hasn't worked is probably what made them agree to replace, and does back up my fears. I appreciate a replacement could have issues, but I'm hoping this was a lemon.
The DP is on holiday now for a week (he phoned me from the train station...I heard the announcement saying his train was delayed!). I appreciate him phoning me. I can deal with the head of sales now. But I'm gonna phone BMW Financial services on Monday to discuss the compo further (and check he hasn't accepted the £350 on my behalf as Carol's dealer originally did!). So although a replacement is on the cards, which I am grateful for, they havent actually given me any more than I've paid for. I might sound ungrateful to push for more, but a friend said this is their 1st offer, so I should push a bit harder. Will see what happens.
Get mine back tomorrow so at least I can use it in the sun. I'll keep it till the replacement arrives. I dont care about it leaking now, but wont be spending the next 8+ weeks in a loaner!
