Latest version of navi map is available for download

[ref]q96169we[/ref], out of curiosity. Do you know if the usb c in the centre arm rest can be used for map updates? Assuming you had a usb c drive?

I don’t think it can but I haven’t tried. I remember read somewhere that it’s only for charging.

Finally I can correct you on something (maybe ;). I also thought it was for charging only as I had heard that, but according to manual it says it can do data transfer. I’ll have to try it though when my usb c thumb drive arrives.

Manual also says file format can be fat 32 or exfat. I believe that’s quite new as I’m sure it used to be fat32 only.
What format was your stick?
 
Software update done. Used your diagnostic mode trick from passenger seat. Worked a treat! Thanks!
 
Not yet. Might wait for next software updates.

Or I might just put some music on it and see if that works.

Music is ok through the usb c. Not sure the map update. As you said, maybe try next time
 
Navigation updated, it didn't take that long and would be fine without diagnostic mode. I had 2020-4 map version before upgrade. The unbuilt road I was sent onto in October, is on the map as previously, so map is still 1-2y ahead of time.

It’s totally optional. If you have a 20-30min trip and it’s enough for the update if you start it at the beginning of the trip. However, I update the map without engine running so the system will shutdown before the update is completed. That’s why I mentioned the diagnostic mode. Again, it’s FYI instead of you have to.

So this can be done without a computer to usb download??

Asking because I don’t have access to a laptop at the moment but couldn’t see anything on the app about being able to do it remotely.

If it can I’ll need to check there’s 30GB+ free on my phone :lol:

The map update is different than the RSU. It does not require your phone to download the map first. Also, based on what I know and experienced so far, I don't think the live map update will update the base map. It will just apply some patches to the base map. This USB map update will update the entire base map. Maybe I'm wrong though.

[ref]Z4monster[/ref], would you mind share a picture of the map version which can be found in MAP -> Settings -> Update? Also, have you visit dealer recently? If the live map update can indeed update the entire base map version and it's just a matter of time, then I don't need to bother with the USB map update in the future.

Just gone to check and I was wrong. :headbang: Still on 2021-2 - I must have seen the update in progress. My bad
 
That’s aligned to what I said before, what you saw is the notification of OTA map update completed but the OTA map update can not update the entire base map version. The OTA map update is just applying patch to whatever base map you have.
