Know your G29

App has been deleted and downloaded again. App and car worked perfectly for first RSU. I’ve even asked BimmerCode if anything if their software would interfere and got a categorical No.

Do you have the app on another device, mine is on my phone and iPad. It downloaded the RSU to both devices might be worth seeing what another device says?

Could try it on Lynn’s phone I suppose.

Just a thought because you’ll be using your own id login and won’t experience the issue I had when I tired to add yours to mine last night

Just wonder if maybe you don’t need the update as your car has the latest version for its spec?

Try it on another phone.

Then, in your myBmw app, you can check each tyre’s model as long as you fit the supported one and pressure
I never noticed that, until I read this post and checked all options in the app. When I opened the app, I would click on car photo and it would take me to "Services", so I never bothered to check it again, since nothing changes there really. I didn't realise, I have to click on "Check status" to go to other tabs of Vehicle Status.

Unfortunately, my winter tyres are not recognised by the car, so I can only see tyre pressue and that's it. Will check if they have QR codes on them.

What I'd like to see in the app, is information about my journesy, mpg, etc. Cupra app shows me info about every journey I take.

Interestingly, as an aside, the BMW bike app provides all that information and other stuff, including lean angles! That being the case, it is surprising the BMW car app does not do the same (excluding lean angle perhaps :D ).

The lean angle could be substituted with a G meter for the car app?

For my previous F10, if I connected the phone to the car by wire, the app could push the notification to show those information on my last trip. But then, this feature was stopped and I don't know why.

Anyone know how the auto handbrake works?

I have it on auto hold which is much better since my last g29 and doesn’t kick in unless you press the pedal further so you can creep along in traffic smoothly.

However, when I switch off engine, sometimes in engages the parking orange and other times it doesn’t. Any ideas?

I'm not 100% sure whether this is the difference but pay a little bit attention to the idrive shut off after turn off the engine and door open. First of all, the car will detect whether you have passenger or not. If you have, then both door must be opened after the engine shut down then the idrive will be shut down as well. If you don't have passenger, then only driver door is opened after engine shut down will shut down the idrive. However, I find that if the gap between engine shut down and the door open is too short, then the idrive will not be shut down. Now, I think when auto hold is activated and you shut down the car, with the door open and idrive shut down, the auto hold will be converted to apply parking brake. If the idrive is not shut down after engine off and door open, then the auto hold is still activated and will not be converted to apply parking brake.

I apply handbrake after switching engine off and only when it's applied, I remove my feet from the brake. Otherwise, my car would move down a bit on driveway, before stopping.

I guess, it's a habit, which may not be necessary on even ground.

It’s different. Ori enabled and activated the auto hold which basically the car hold the brake pedal for you until hand brake applied or drive off.

I’m going to try it again shortly, but the handbrake should kick in when you hit park and switch off the engine. (with auto h enabled). That is according the manual.

That is according the manual.
If you find my previous comment about the relationship between idrive shut down and auto-hold to handbrake conversion is correct, then I think this is a typical scenario which the one who know the tech detail doesn't want to write the user docs while the one who actually writes user docs doesn't know the tech detail. :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:
In that case, the manual should say "upon system switch off ..." instead of "upon engine switch off ...". Just like when we still needed to turn the key to start the car where there were usually four key positions: OFF, AUX ON, ON, Crank the engine. Engine off in g29 is kind of like move the key from ON -> AUX ON. What it needs is to move the key from ON->AUX ON->OFF so that the auto hold will be converted to apply hand brake.

Ok. So I’ve had a play (no jokes please).

I think I turned it off and back on and it seems to come on now when you turn the engine off. Also comes off instantly when you turn the engine on. I’ll keep an eye on it. ;)

Manual says when you exit ready to drive mode.

In translation, is that there is a logic to the system, we just haven’t figured it out yet.

As an aside, I’ve noticed two quirks, sometimes the left hand mirror drops when parking sometimes it doesn’t. And the other, sometimes the idrive shuts down when I open the door and the engines switched off, other times only when I lock the car.

As I say there’s probably logic there to explain it, I’m just to blonde to figure it out :poke:

sars, do you change key fobs?

Often (on the E89)..several functions like that are either programmed per key or user settings are remembered per key?
