All you need is one good idea and the balls to stake everything on it - can't be that hard, surely :D

The old adage, 'you can't please all of the people all of the time' was probably written for this very conversation around the licensee fee and its perceived value to an individual.

My advice is get out there and start investigating/using the available services we're all paying for; before it's a moot point and you're watching ads for Halifax and confused.com every 11 minutes.

Edit: here's a few to get you started :)

Im still trying to get over the comment earlier that he was paid £13 million by the BBC!
Whos money was that?

Yes rumours going round that the Z4 forum generates £13 million a year too.....

Steve Coogans take on the whole thing ..........worth reading ......http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2011/feb/05/top-gear-offensive-steve-coogan

Have to say I think Mr Coogan is bang on the money there with his pointed critique .Much as Mad Mrs P and I both enjoy watching top gear they are all probably past their sell by date and its time for change .

That Steve Coogan article is from 2011 (and gaining a lot of repeats on FB...oh, the irony), so not related to the current 'fracas' although probably still relevant.

I'm more interested in who decided to call this a 'fracas'. Who actually still uses that word nowadays? (apart from James May, that is.... can see him using it) Was probably the most PC term the BBC could use that didn't offend anyone... would have preferred 'fisticuffs' personally though :D

Report on Sky news in the last couple of hours from 4 people who 'overheard' the argument. Not best pleased he wouldn't give them a selfie, didn't like how they spoke to the guy re no food provisions. No mention of a punch, just the fact he told whoever that he'd make sure they lost their job.

What is it with people? Clearly been paid a bit of cash for this. If it wasn't JC or anyone of any significance/stature then it wouldn't be news and they wouldn't have given too hoots about it.

As much as the stuff on topgear can get overly silly at times(and boring), it is still, on the whole a very entertaining program, and I have actually enjoyed the past few episodes more than some previous ones.....I think if Clarkson has hit the producer then they should have suspended him for the next 2 shows, and let Hammond n May do it without him, that would get the point across he isn't God/ without having to ruin it for the rest of us!

Hope this gets sorted soon

I love this "He said he hadn't done his job properly, it was ridiculous that there was nothing to eat, obviously there was lots of expletives in between all this, and that he would be losing his job, he would see to it that he would lose his job," she said.

"Even someone who's really inept at their job should be told properly, in a proper manner," she said

If I had been working all day and eventually get to the place I was staying and there was no food I'd be a bit knarked too. Infact I'd probably have a go at the person who's job it was to ensure adequate provisions were made. I note it doesn't mention hot or cold food, just no food. And screw the proper manner, what did she want him to do? not have his say and wait until they got back to HQ and have someone senior speak with him in an office? Heat of the moment, most of us have been there.

If Clarkson punched me for not having his food for him he wouldn't need suspending - he's be on hospital rations for the forseeable.

But then Clarkson wouldn't punch me because I'm a good big bigger than he is.

If Clarkson punched a guy for not doing his job properly he needs sacking - End of !

In fact he needs arresting !

This whole "fracas" reminds of how these things should be sorted.

Gobby celebrity meets guy that isn't scared of him or his minder

According to the Times this morning the guy who was "allegedly" punched hasn't reported it and Clarkson reported himself at a staff meeting on Monday. Make of that what you will.

I think he's having a bit of a power struggle here. He's trying to goad them into dismissing him. Put up or shut up kind of thing. Clearly he has enemies within the BBC who would like to see the back of him and perhaps this is his way of dealing with it.

James May did also say that he personally was "blind drunk". If Clarkson was also a bit worse for wear then that wouldn't help anything. The accounts are confusing as some appear it's straight after the shoot so they should all be stone cold sober, but that's at odds with James's comment.

Over half a million people have signed that petition now. The viewers don't seem to think he's past it...

there is no petition to get rid of him, I suspect it would have at least as many votes

I dare you to start 1 :poke:

Too late, that was mentioned a few pages back as well :poke:

All 750 BRAKE members have signed that one

Well it looks like Mr Clarkson is looking to leave Top Gear.

From Sky News via his Sun artical:

"You can start as many campaigns as you like and call on the support of politicians from all sides, but the day must come when you have to wave goodbye to the big monsters, and move on.

"We lose one animal and get another. The world turns."

He goes on to say: "As you may have heard, I've been suspended by the BBC following a fracas at a North Yorkshire hotel.

"I don't intend to dwell here on what happened then or what will happen in the future. I'm sure you're as fed up with the story as I am.

"One of the things which has cheered me is how many people have expressed support in the last few days. I'm touched and grateful."

Going out in controversial style. I like it

Why would he not punch you just because you are bigger than him? If people never punched anyone who was bigger than them then there would be very few fracases full stop! As nice as this would be unfortunately it isn't true!

It does appear that Clarkson is deliberately pushing things to a head for final resolution one way or another. Maybe he wants to retire to Clarkson Island!

It seems that we are the ones being punished because of one person's alleged behaviour

It's a bit like keeping the whole class in detention for one person's poor behaviour or lateness. . . . unbelievable really! :o :?

Why the heck should we miss episodes on TV because of this? Do something which impacts on him not the rest of us - stupid response.

:driving:

It is stupid. If he died tomorrow would they just put everybody else out of a job?
Just because he might not be there anymore shouldnt mean the end o the program.
They could still run the other programs without him, its not like they can cover up why hes not there anyway.
