Jezza suspended-

Sorry he is a plonker - always has been - always will be - he is a bit like the class chancer - makes everyone laugh but when the chips are down would you go out on a limb for him?

He appeals to the non- PC brigade who are hanging on to the prospect that somehow common sense and equality will somehow disappear overnight and we will revert to the 1970's bless this house and alf garnet era

s**t the door behind you Jeremy your time is up!

My Dad gets on with everyone and is the most laid back and tolerating person I know, but he " cannot abide Clarkson". As time goes by I become more like my Dad! :)

My Mum thinks he's an @rse and can't see why I actually like him. He can be a twat and talk utter tripe but sometimes he makes sense and even more so when he writes.

I've just seen some of the front pages of today's papers and the Mail on Sunday has a supposed report quoting some senior figure/Boss at the BBC saying that Clarkson is like Savile. How on earth can you say that? That man was the scum of the earth! He makes Mr Clarkson look like a saint. To compare him to a such a beast is just darn right outrageous! Well if he does go into retirement, he will be able to live off the proceeds of the law suite on the back of that!

As for the producer is now in hiding fearing for his life. Really? If that is the case then whoever leaked the story without divulging it was Clarkson that turned himself in should be held accountable.

Supposedly no other network wants him.........yeah right!

I think they should just finish the series, get the last three shows out the way and call it a day. He's been at it since 1988, I've grown up watching him but it's not what it was back in the good old days. The people who will miss it the most are the people who watch it as an entertainment program and have no real interest in car features.

He had the balls to sometimes say what other people don't. But at the same time he just wanted to pick an argument in each episode just for the fun of it. And strangely enough, that is what makes the show more appealing to me than something like Fifth Gear which to me is just plain boring...

OK, he made a mistake for which he should pay the price, but on the other hand, this one mistake shouldn't be enough to break his whole career. Without him, TG would not be as popular as it is today.

The Saville analogy is not comparing what Clarkson has done against the evil behaviour of Saville at all. Jezza is a saint by comparison. It's the bullying way in which he tries to get his way. The BBC has learnt to its cost that no one person can be bigger and more important the the organisation, or even a small part of it.

It seems that he realised that having done something stupid that he thought he could limit the damage by fessing up himself. In doing so he he thought he could get away with a slap on the wrist. It's dawning on him that in light of Saville that the Beeb are simply not going to turn away and ignore what he's done. Nor should they. If you did this single act out in the real world it is summary dismissal, or, as he's contracted by a third party, termination of contract. If he did get away with it, it's giving the message that it's ok to thump somebody, and, in return, it's ok to expect to be thumped yourself without any consequences.

The fact that the BBC is giving him the opportunity to present at a tribunal is credit to them. Let's see how contrite he is then as he has already effectively admitted what happened.

The Beeb don't really care about JC - he is a high profile presenter, yes, but, they will be worried about the potential loss of huge global earnings. JC is just one of a massive and extremely talented production team (think about what you see - not just three guys but some fantastic filming and ideas). Tens if not hundreds of people are now out of work because of one self-important opinionated oaf. I bet JC isn't paying their wages out of his cash mountain.

TG could go to another channel, but they won't get anything like a the current budget. They would also have to recreate the same channels to the wider market. That would take years. Commercially you couldn't just lift and shift it and it be the same. How many programmes have moved and retained their attraction - not many. It's not because of the programme, it's the logistics, financing and IPR.

I'm not a fan of Clarkson nor do I dislike him. I do dislike that he uses his position to diss others who have no opportunity to respond. He should have checked how long the piece of rope was - it was shorter than he thought.

I feel sorry for the millions who watch enjoy TG, frequently despite Jezza not because of him. We are all missing a great tv programme.

TG was due for a change. It will change, but I think it will stay at the BBC with a new or changed line-up and formula. This episode was the trigger. Jezza foolishly loaded the ammunition and pulled the trigger himself doing the job for the BBC so they didn't have to.

So for all you haters. Top gears just not the same anymore blah blah blah I don't like laughing and comedy :poke: :poke:

You can now watch a repeat about the Red Arrows at the same time instead. Was quite good to be fair

Excellent post.
I am one of the many that do watch (and all the Dave repeats) and enjoy despite Clarkson.

I have long thought that Top Gear should be split into two shows, or rather have a spin-off sister show (like many of the BBC's and ITV's big shows). Call it Top Gear: Full Throttle or some such thing!

Keep the main TG as it is on a Sunday night (with all the divisive OTT trimings such challenges and celeb laps) but then start a second show which is more focused at petrol heads (more EVO magazine or dare I say 5th gear esque) on a week night. Just take additional some footage from the supercar reviews and some more motoring news as the backbone to keep costs down.

I signed the petition for JC, not actually because I really like him, but I like that he stands for times when everyone was a bit less PC and more colourfull. Also that the BBC need to listen to thier license payers more.

I really hate how this age of 'Celebrity' has lost the distinction between people we like to see on screen, and what they do off it (within limits of the law - i.e. in this case assuming it was a 'fracas' and not assault!)

So his contract wont be renewed.

And a new top gear in 2016. Wonder who will be fronting that?

Surely May and Hammond will be off.

In the end, you can't put entertainment before people. He might have been entertaining, but they're right, he crossed a line and you can't let people get away with mistreating people because they're funny. Oh hang on, I can recall quite a few that have got away with it tho... ;)

I hope the show continues and I'm sure we'll get accustomed to new presenters in time, it will be rough for them at first. So long as it doesn't turn into Fifth Gear, I'll be happy, that show is so boring the only channel to continue with it is 'History'... Who?

To be honest, the only reason i watch top gear is because of the presenters.. it's not as good a car show as /drive or fifth gear.. it's an entertainment show that's particularly successful because of the trio.

BBC are muppets, embarrassingly so - just read their own censored hearsay coverage of this mornings story, they need to grow some balls.

Waiting for the petition to stop paying the license fee to come out - i'll sign it.
