What is it about Atacama Yellow and negative remarks?!! I think it looks absolutely ace 
+1 for Vanilla posting pics of your car. Always nice to see what people fall in love with.
What these buttholes don't realise is that you have bought your car because you love it. It has nothing to do with them. If they're giving you grief then just remember that they must have some kind of deep rooted insecurity which makes them feel empty inside.
I got stick along the lines of "did your Mrs choose that?" or "when are you coming out of the closet"...to which I answered "yes she likes the interior" (which she does and it was her final choice) and "I came out of it for your dad but he wasn't man enough to keep me out".
Point is, I don't give a toss because Mrs D and I bought it because we love it. Anyone who doesn't understand that needs to have a hard look at themselves and see if they are capable of the emotion.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm used to being in the shadows and now the Z acquisition is the most interesting thing about me.
I've had some jokey threats about scratching or hurting him which I don't like as he is in need of some tlc anyway.
It's also the asking about:
1. costs - comments like 'we're paying grads too much' It's my finances and savings and i'll choose whether to spend on a car or a flat or travel.
2. the impracticalities - yes it's low and not always comfortable but I'm not forcing you into it and it's my choice.
3. kids- If I'm not having a family now - why do i have to get a family car?! If I want kids I'll leave them at home or choose my favourite hehe.
4. convertible - don;t know why people make fun of convertibles, they are practical and fun (I'll admit that I did want a coupe initially).
5. of course the pollution. As if they drive an electric car! If electric cars become affordable and sound beautiful then I'll consider one.
But it's not just the Z, it's the 'BMW 'inconsiderate' stereotype comments too but I've had a few nice comments from friends too.
At the end of the day I made my investment choice for my reasons and they made theirs. I will try to ignore them but it's hard to stop thinking about it.
I got him washed today so will take some pics tomorrow hopefully.

I've been lucky and had no nasty comments, just banter from friends with Porsches. A lot of people are defused when you tell them that it was cheap, it's economical and fun. Take them for a ride and let them enjoy it too

I've had it all over the years, started with Boy Racer comments when a student. I got my Z4 when i was a graduate and you get all the usuall comments about being paid to much. I also have a mk1 mr2 which some say is a hair dressers car. Even now with the S2 111S Elise its classed as the hair dressers choice.
The z4 is very practical, its easy to drive, has a massive boot, returns good mpg and isnt to big to park and you cant beat topless driving when the weather allows it.

You have a stylish, fast and enjoyable car...leave them to the SUV/Hatchback/people carrier...enjoy it!
You do have to remember that a Z4 takes you RIGHT out of the shadows, everyone wants to look, even if they sometimes hide it

I get guys asking about it then telling me they "used to have an S2000". :roll:
I've got an old lady on my estate who is 90 next year and made me promise to take for a "very fast spin" on her 90th birthday. :evil:
Most people just rubberneck or try and race me off the lights, but people that know what it is generally approve. For example I got buzzed and a thumbs up from a carrera 4S tonight, then we had a bit of nip and tuck before killing ourselves laughing as we got blown off by a 12 year old in a clio......
I have a work colleague with a peugeot RCZ and another with an audi TT, both of whom everyone winds up saying they should get a proper sports car like Greg's!

That's why I got a black one, to retain the shadows..just a bit more glamourously.
