Jealous idiots rant

I used to get the faggot/hairdresser car routines when I first got mine, mainly from people at work, then you look at the mundane boring cars they drive and you think, so what? I bought the car for me and I really don't give a feck what people think, it is mainly jealousy, given the choice I think they would rather be in a Z4 roadster than an Astra/focus/mondeo diesel or whatever they drive. :thumbsup:
 
Just sit proudly and think 'its just their childish jealousy because they have a sh!t car'. That's what I do. I get it now and then, usually with the roof down, someone at a traffic light will say 'Cu*t' as I drive by, and I think, yes, a Cu*t with a life better than yours ;)

Anyway, you should thank them. They are reacting to your new and improved status, (as they see it), and they don't quite know how to deal with it. There is nothing wrong with them and there is nothing wrong with you. It is a phase. Give them some room and relax.
 
I normally get "there paying you too much" which is a compliment to the car....but also a dig at my financial situation...I just say "Its not MY car...its the finance companies".

Drove past some school kids recently with the roof down...they all looked at the car, then...once I'd past...one turned round and shouted "You twat". Kept me chuckling for miles!

You being a woman, I doubt your "drive topless" comment did much to help your case!

Me being a fat git probably generates plenty of comments "look at that fat git in that flashy car". I haven't heard it, but I know it goes on.

And at the end of the day, my advice is:

OP: I'm suprised as a girl you get teased tbh, but then maybe it fits the stereotype, you've just got to ignore it, you bought the car for yourself not anyone else.

When I told people at work I was getting a z4 there were numerous hairddresser comments etc. (mainly from people with 206's etc lol), but from the day I turned up in it onwards I never heard a bad comment, I think though in an engineering company, most people have respect for a 3L straight six with considerably more bph than they could ever wish for... having a coupe probably helps reduce the work related hairdresser jabs mind.
 
I think part of the problem is that people think a Z4 is worth more than it is. Especially with the E85, which can just about get away with not looking very "previous-gen" to someone that doesn't know cars that well.

Had the odd "ooh, flash your cash" comment from mates a couple of times and had to politely remind them that they're driving around in something worth twice as much.

This, my Z4 Coupe got non stop attention in France (thankfully not from Le Plod!!) - it's like they'd barely seen them. I've never seen so many people taking pictures of my car at the Maison Blanche campsite at Le Mans!!

I did put a silly "No hairdressing products left in this car overnight" sticker on the rear bumper too for the Le Mans trip (which helped shut people up as I'd made the comment before them!!).

My advice to you would be to just enjoy the car and take their comments with a bit of humility. If they can see their comments don't wind you up they'll soon get bored and move onto something else! I take the piss out of my own car more than other people, if they're not bringing anything "new" to the party, again - they'll get bored. I also don't tend to talk about my car unless somebody asks me about it...if you bring it up in conversation "I like to drive topless" for example, then they're more likely to pick you up on it!!

I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of your new Zed though :)

PS - other alternatives would include buying a 3.0 or an M...that'll shut them up pronto. :driving:
 
We all get it at some point or in some form or another... I get the hairdresser thing all the time especially from my friends because I owned an Audi TT before that! Haha!

Just learn to banter back... or leave em at the lights ;)
 
Never had any negative comments or likening to a hairdresser.

But then at 16 stone and 6ft tall and built like a prop, maybe people don't want to take the chance :D

It wouldn't even cross my mind to call the Z4 coupe a hairdresser's car. It's basically a massive engine with a seat!

All of my cars have been 2 doors and 2 seats.

Imagine being 17, telling your 'friends' that you've passed and watching their expression drop when they learnt they won't be all free-loading lifts (not my reason for having a 2 seater before anyone asks)

needless to say I had plenty of stick and eventually gave up and found more like minded people.

No regrets to having nice things, either people will accept it or just be jealous. However you look at it you'll lose so its easier to just enjoy what you have.

I just play up to the comments and have a laugh. ..I know people are jealous if they say anything nasty but if you play along with them they soon get bored when they realise its not bothering you. 8-) I get more embarrased when colleagues admire the car. .I dont know what to say because I dont want to look like im showing off or gloating, thats not why I bought the zed, I bought it because I wanted a car that drove and handled well!

I bought it to get the comments, love it, that's why I went for yellow :)

You get the best kick if you drive through a built up area and put the roof down while on the move. The only thing I don't do is turn up the sound system around town because I'm a poser not a chav.
 
My girlfriend has called posh bitch quote a few times at the traffic lights.
And she is a poor student who passed the test few months ago

I honestly have had no bad comments. I have had the hairdresser line. Mostly from my best mate. Who is a hairdresser so i think he is joking :rofl:

Dont listen to them its all ready been said but its jealousy plan and simple.
 
I find doing quite the opposite is a very effective tool, rather than being shy and sheepish about the car I just act like a outlandish flash twat. Walk out of the local supermarket, pop the hood with the key and drive out of the space giving a little blip of the throttle whilst wearing a SnapBack and some big sunglasses. I get 'flash prick' occasionally, but so what? That's like saying 'hey, you look like you're doing well for yourself and I resent that'
