Wasn't there a plan a while back to re-value all the houses again per council with a snooper coming around? Went a bit quiet.
That was a proposal by the Corbyn lot.

Our council tax went up and now they are looking to put a charge on, to empty the garden waste bins.
Just glad that we have a log burner and plenty of free wood, to do most of our heating.
Also glad that our main car is 0 tax too and still plenty of OT at work, if I want it.

We have had to pay extra for our garden waste for a couple of years now. We just put ours in bags and put it in the normal household bin in protest. A scattering of cat litter on top tends to stop anyone having a check to make sure that only household waste is in the bin
Rates are high enough without having to pay for additional services that used to be free.

When I first moved to this are in 2005 we bought a Garden Waste bin for £30 which would be emptied for free.

I moved away in 2007 and came back in 2011 and an annual charge had been introduced (£50 a year I think) or you could put it in biodegradable paper bags that you had to buy from the Council for 50p each. Then a few years ago they went up to £1 each.

I've been buying the bags but probably should get creative like Nanu!

It was part of the council tax charge, we were told, when they rolled it out.
Anyway, something about the government wanting all councils to do more in recycling garden and food waste, is coming soon.
The government will be paying the council's to bring this in, so looks like the county swindlers are trying to get even more money from us.
I will return to burning the garden waste :D

Can you guys not run any garden waste down to the local tip for free?
Not free when you factor in fuel costs and waiting in the queue, buzy :(
Our council tip is next to Waitrose, so we just do tip and shopping together.

Our council used to collect garden waste free and recycle it by composting it and selling it back to you at £2 per bag. It was a good scheme.
Now they just charge to collect it and have not got a clue what they do with it now.

They did that here too, not anymore though.
Was a good scheme.

I was banned from the tip at Booker (high heavens) in 2008, and the one at Bledlow Ridge in 2007. Different reasons but the same outcome!

Bledlow closed a few years ago, didn't go to often as they were a bunch of monkeys.
High heavens is still there, they charge for most things now, apart from house hold items.

I'm struggling to think how you get banned from a tip, poor quality of rubbish deposited? :D

I have 2 life bans from the MR2 ROC forum, so even being bitten during a zombie apocalypse is not getting me back on there.

Another MR2 owner, how did you get banned from the club

Just the forum, most of the people seemed to be in the Kent area.
Tony the frog comes to mind, if I remember rightly

They were both quite funny really, but me being a mouthy git, fairly easily.
I did point out to both 'skip rats' (and I did use that term to them which got me off on the wrong foot admittedly) that they were funded by the Council, and I did perhaps mention something about my Council tax payments being potentially much higher than theirs in their Council owned bedsits.
Funny how easily some people take offence. :?

I mean, why would a skip rat take offence about their non property owning lifestyle by a bloke that turns up in a different car each time?

Strange indeed..... :D
