Many moons ago I had a new silver MG Metro Turbo. Great fun car. Enjoy your new toy. It looks great.

Right guys

got a few weeks lined up for this so going straight in on it. After really crawling around it, it's condition is nothing short of remarkable , I got to spoke to the guy that built this and it was purchased from a gent who used it as a show car . You can tell it's had very little exposure to the elements. So pleased with it. The main body is in excellent condition with real scope to get it near perfect with a good correction, the underside is fantastic and i really look forward to the strip down and underside restoration of this. Next winter ill remove the engine and powder coat all the brackets , the airbox sounds utterly fantastic, i do love a revved out K series!

Today decontaminated the paint
Used some washing machine feet to create quick release tabs for the battery release bar which was knocked up from a piece of alloy.
Cleaned engine bay
Cleaned interior flooring
APC wiped down shuts .
Preparing for 3 stages of correction .

Only iffy part of paint is the rear spoiler which sadly has laquer peel ( I'm happy it's not the body of the car ) I'm slightly worried about removing the spoiler as it's all one piece and I'll likely not be able to source a new one. So for now , I'll wrap it satin black and gently try to remove another time.

also guys, does anyone know of some clips for the harness tails? they are loose and it looks naff, id like to loop them around the bar in the back of the car ???

LOVE THIS!
Can't wait to see more on the ultimate q car and more vids!
EDIT: Looks like it has quite a tall ratio steering rack. Any plans to shorten?

Thanks for the comments brother, ill leave it be, once in the car it feels pretty good, the lack of power steering is no joke however! im going to change the wheel for something alittle bit more special and the dash will be removed so it can be flocked.

Awesome!

thanks guys, currently sourcing
* Original Metro mats ( mine are perished )
* parts for a rear disc conversion this NEEDS more braking .

It's great to see something other than the Golf, 205, etc. getting some appreciation, and it sounds like it will be a hoot to drive.

It will only end up getting expensive if you let it, but given what you have done to your MR it looks like expense may be on the cards!

ordered two sets of these to tidy up the harness left overs...

Have you looked into some small lithium battery? I cannot stop myself from thinking the weight saving would be significant on such a small car, it would complete the rally look and a pretty small battery should manage to crank just fine? Liam22 manages to crank an N52 with a battery I would only trust to go into an RC Car :P

I'll take a peak into it. 😁😁

A Metro! Wow, that’s about the last thing I’d have expected!

I learnt to drive in my mums metros and have many great memories of them. Dodgy escapades, near misses and just general young driver shenanigans  Perhaps the only ‘downside’ of buying this one is that you’ll miss out on the full metro experience by not having one that shakes violently as it hits top speed (104mph indicated iirc)

Thats cool. Like many on here, growing up with 80s cars, still have a passion for them.......so many good cars back then, just too expensive for me and my mates ,we couldn't afford the Gti golfs or Astra gte's when they were new/relatively new,so we had 1.2 Novas/1.0 Metros, etc then mid spec 2.0 Cavaliers(mk.3) and Sierras, when we really wanted the Cavalier Turbo or Sierra Cosworth, lol

Look forward to seeing the progress with this one,Byron  :driving:

Lol.... My guilty please is 80s/90s hatches... Its just my era and simply adore that genre of hatch. This is as mad as a box of frogs. Really enjoying taking it to the next level it's been really loved. Quite simply I've fell head over heals in love 😅😅😅😅

I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE GUYS.... The GTi is having its wheels refinished and I'd love to get all your thoughts on a colour for the wheels ??? Hit me up in the comments with your thoughts . Here's mine 2p worth , definitely not black , utterly played out and boring ... So it's either a high gloss silver , gold or white . I think a brilliant white would look pretty special on this but look forward to hearing some ideas. Really looking for classy but abit of wow factor if possible.

Daisy’s running the same wheels in gloss white, as below. Not a huge lover of gold wheels but I think the colour of Toby is ideal for gold wheels
