Daisy’s running the same wheels in gloss white, as below. Not a huge lover of gold wheels but I think the colour of Toby is ideal for gold wheels

It could really work ..... So torn. Maybe a very light anthracite ??

As I said not struck on gold but this made me change my mind, pretty similar colour to yours.

I really like light anthracite but on that car don’t know if you’d “lose” some of the wheel and definition. I think the wheels being so small is part of the issue. IMO has to be bright like white/silver/gold

I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE GUYS.... The GTi is having its wheels refinished and I'd love to get all your thoughts on a colour for the wheels ??? Hit me up in the comments with your thoughts . Here's mine 2p worth , definitely not black , utterly played out and boring ... So it's either a high gloss silver , gold or white . I think a brilliant white would look pretty special on this but look forward to hearing some ideas. Really looking for classy but abit of wow factor if possible.

Gold might work well, but my choice would be Silver. Not super high gloss though, maybe just fresher and a bit brighter than standard.
That's just my thoughts,mate

right went with a shadow chrome with a darker base, lets see how it looks...... lets be honest they are pretty ugly wheels so.... not expecting miracles but lets see. in a year or so ill get some custom made image wheels.

Minilites (or minilite replicas)? They always seem to suit any old British cars, especially in matt white!

I've been looking at old Metros on AT today thanks to you, pal! :x :)

LOL !!!

wheel wise, it will be something from the image vintage series.

Finally started on the paint work .... She's going to come up well indeed. So excited to see if come back to life. Unarches deep cleaned with steam , coated , the suspension components / subframe will come off next winter for either replacement or a refurb where possible, I'm too eager to use it this summer 🤣. Some good shots of the custom rear turrets and coil over units.

The paintwork is sloooooww progress , the clear is like granite lol. Which I didn't expect. But the results speak for themselves. Hand sanded the swage lines which were really beat up and then hit the bonnet hard for its first cut. Lots of different sized machines to achieve a a solid base then I can refine it over the next few stages of work.

Once again it's pretty unreal to see a metro in this condition , some surface rust on edges of panels etc which will be dealt with in due course but literally a time warp that just is begging for this treatment. So excited to see it all come together .

Bit more progress on this one ... Pics in random order.

I wrapped the damaged spoiler for the time being , came out really well. Paint correction work is complete , the car is now ceramic coated with a nice dual layer product .

The wheels can be seen here in their final form of shadow chrome and I just love how cool it looks. Spare wheel was also done which is on display in the car behind the cage.

Next job is to whip the screen out and change the screen rubbers . Really hoping to save the original glass then cover it with windscreen protection film.

thanks james, its got to be the most FUN car ive ever owned! The performance is literally insane, power to weight ration is higher than a new rs3 LOL. I cant wait to get to many events with this and my z4m this year!

i think of the cars ive owned this metro gets the warmest reception on the road and i think its because of the very reason you mention, most people have a story with a metro or a mini! lol.. peoples necks snap when its out and about. your grandads metro turbo would probably be worth the price of a z4m today   .

This purchase was one of the best ive made!

Had this out today and did our first longer trip....

2.5hours..... Slight issue with a dodgy coolant cap which i fixed at the side of the road! ( god i love tinkering with this older stuff) but really shaking it down now, its SUCH a high performer, quite literally eye openingly fast, ALITTLE stiff but still way more comfy than i thought it would be, handling is fantastic, very go kart like but grip levels are relatively low, quick driving gives a all four wheel drift stance, the cammed VVC k series just LOVES to rev and sounds... SO .. SO. SOOOOOO good. She revs to 7k with ease and with the lightweight balanced flywheel and kevlar clutch , the cars a riot to be frank...... i ADORE this thing. Where the bmw just feels so serious and scary, this feels so much FUN. In july im taking wifey to monaco in it         i cant wait!

My uncle worked for BAE and had a montage GTi as a company car in BRG man years ago, again not many left.

I never had a Metro but good to see one being restored
