It's my own fault really............!

So, after being reversed into on 6th May and being seduced into using UK assist by Churchill (Oh Yuss!). My car was taken into intensive care on Thursday 13th May. I made clear to pick up guy (who duly noted it) that I am away for 5 weeks from 31st May. That was also made clear to assessor and Marge, Tracy, Susanne and anyone else I spoke to at UK Assist during the time it was there (is there!) Will it be ready Friday 28th, "Should be, if not then Saturday"

Come Friday, no call. I call them. "Yeah, ready Wednesday next week" Light touch fuse, watch the fireworks.

I go to Basildon UK Assist at a zilllion MPH in my Eurobox. I find my car in the pound:

Minus rear wing
Minus rear bumper
driver window open
keys in ignition
another car actually parked up touching the rear end of my Z

I strip myself stark b*ll*ck naked and handcuff myself to Tracy (who didn't bat an eyelid.....must be a Basildon thing)

To say I am not impressed would be a massive understatement.

But, my own fault really for not insisting on using BMW. I tell ya, UK Assist is sheeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiittttt If you are ever offered their services by your insurance company, douse yourself in petrol and light a match. It is a much more pleasant and less stressful experience!

:worthless:

(really though, probably best for everyone if you don't )

Not good to hear, that really sucks. Give 'em (more) hell

That is a horrendous way to treat someones car, they dont give a crap about any damage caused it is rains with the window being left open.

My brother in law had his car at a local garage getting some work done, the garage had a dispute with another customer who couldn't pay his bill. We believe the disgruntled customer returned to the garage when it was closed, he proceeded to smash every window on my Brother in laws car which had been kindly left out by the garage. The garage accepted no responsibility and advised him to go through his insurance. This is why i never leave my car with a garage any longer than i have to, they dont give a crap what happens to someone elses property.

Have only ever used BMW - written quotation, written confirmation of delivery date etc etc. Petach sorry to hear of your issues and hope it gets sorted. As for the issue with BobZ4 and his brothers car the garage is way out of line - when you hand your goods to a third party they have a duty of care whilst in their possession irrespective of the criminal element of the damage caused (the police were informed weren't they....?). What happens if they, the garage, had caused the damage would they then deny liability? When these things happen it's best to say nothing and agree to nothing untli you seek some independent advice (unless they offer massive cash compensation).

Hearing of your plight reminded me of my run in with a insurance co approved B/shop.The GF had a no fault accident in our 1st gen TT so it went to the the local b/shop but it ended going back numerous times for various problems: ie white bloom on the new paintwork, scuffed rear leather seat swab(replaced with new),nearside door speakers not reconnected, and finally were the rear screens meets the rear wings the paintwork starting to bubble up so it went back again.Once we got the car back the whole shine was taken off for me so ended up getting rid.
In insight i wish i'd taken it too a Audi b/shop but you live and learn

The joke is, I complained to Churchill (Ohhhhh Yusssssss!) and the lady I spoke to was most unsympathetic, ie.

Well, are they repairing your car?
Did they promise a completion date?

I explained that I told them each time I spoke to someone that I was going away on Monday, no one said to me, "It won't be ready by then, better not book it in until you come back" So no promise of date, but no communication on a very important point n'est pas? Merde alors!

She was so rude and arrogant and dismissive. Funny, how the glossy brochure crumples to ash in your hand when the sh1t hits the fan. Come renewal, they will not have my business, but I don't suppose they give a fishes left nad!

My wife's car had repairs via a Churchill recommended repairer who made a mess of it and damaged the car whilst in their shop.We complained in writing and by phone several times but they never did anything to sort it out. Load of w*nkers if you ask me.

One thing not to forget when in this situatuion is its still your car, if your not happy with anything take it back off them and go somewhere else. Dont think just because you've given it to them you are duty bound to leave it there if your not happy.

Small claims court - amazing what a threat of legal action can do (but not always....)

I try to live with is to not use services/products advertised on TV, apart for banks as an example as they all advertise on TV (and as we know, are all dodgy also :)) . Cillit Bang I have heard is a load of rubbish, and that's been advertised for years. I also wouldn't want anything to do with webuyanycar.com either.

Insurance Recommended repairs are always back street outfits that work on the cheap to pacify the insurance companies. Even though I have Churchill as well, I insisted on the OEM repair when a Porsche drove in the back of my wife's car whilst the driver was on his mobile and eating a sandwich at the time.

All that Churchill will say is that you won't get a replacement car, no big deal in my case as I preferred the OEM repair.

Start the complaints procedure against Churchill though, as I think they will take it seriously.
