ISA’s

Enough for a few rounds.
You are missing the point. Whether Sonny is a financial wizard, or not, NO ONE CARES.

Boasting about wealth and how clever you are generally does not go down well on a car forum (or anywhere) IMHO!

To be fair to the lad it is a thread started about ISA's where I think Ron was talking about the fluctuation in his ISA and Sonny is talking about his individual stocks in his.

I highly doubt Sonny is Gordon Gekko but the general stock market (and my S and P tracker) has gone up 11% since the start of the thread.

So it is feasible that Gordon's high risk penny oil stocks could have 3-4x'd the general market in that time.

I love to see people do well but I question the sustainability of his picks- would love to see how he gets on long term

Not that I am getting any value from Sonny's tips but I do love logging on to see the bites (and the banter back) he is getting every time he posts from the old guard.

I think you'll find in the main that us old (sic) guard are reacting due to the fact that this is one of many threads he's posted crap on.
Luckily this particular thread is relatively harmless, but I know I'm not the only one who is concerned a newbie asking for advice may listen to this .....................person.......................... and end up messing up their car.
At that point i hope they follow his financial advice to enable them to recoup their losses!

[ref]mgrlane[/ref], The problem is this person proclaims himself an expert in every thread he posts in. Had this been a one off I would have been a lot less sceptical.

The fact that many have replied and keep talking about it literally means that they do care. Yourself included.

The irony is you are missing the point this isn't boasting about wealth at all as £28k is literally nothing. The percentage is what matters here not the money as a few have questioned the legitimacy and when proof is provided they then question the legitimacy of the proof. I didn't start this thread. It's about ISA's and I am discussing my ISA. Yet you are all fixated on something else. Clearly this is too much to handle for some. Why are you even in an ISA thread if you have no intention of investing in one?

There's been some questions asked and the ironic thing is they were so far off the point even when they were suggesting my returns aren't real and if they were I would be working for a hedge fund. That proves to me they know nothing about hedge funds and shows they clearly know nothing about the stock market which isn't surprising if they cannot fathom people make more than the basic index tracker on them.

Long story short. For the last decade Warren Buffet the best investor of the last century made less than the s&p 500. Once you figure out why he couldn't beat it you have your answer as to why I am not working for a hedge fund. If you cannot answer this basic question then in my opinion you should stick with the s&p 500. Do you care to hazard a guess?

You don't see the irony in saying that you are not boasting about £28k as it is literally nothing?

If anyone has a spare 28k lying around they wouldn't miss, let me know and I'll PM my account details.

Just asking for a friend 🙃

Tim.

You’re doing much better than my response to that Scubes

Mine is - what a :wkr: move stating £28k is nothing when there’s regularly people on here reluctantly selling their p&j’s for a fraction f that figure as they need the money for something else.

I understand now.

I thought it was a one off and you were all jumping on him.

No because £28K won't even get you a deposit for the average house in the UK. Nobody would boast about having £28K in the bank unless they were a teenager. In other news up again another few %. This is just my ISA from this year and this isn't a penny stock. I was buying this stock for £1 odds last year.

Condescending.
Patronising.
Belittling.
Downright disrespectful to a large percentage of the population.

Did you know even if you earned minimum wage you could have £3 million in the bank come retirement if you followed the 50-30-20 rule? A large percentage of the population doesn't have money through poor choices mainly through ignorance. What if I told you that I don't have any subscriptions bar youtube, broadband and a VPN. Clearly I can afford Netflix, Prime, latest iPhone, etc but I pay £7 per month for my mobile. I don't even have a TV license. It's not like I don't spend money. I just actively think about what I am doing with my money and whether I really need these things or not. I have spent several thousand on power tools this year but I see that as an investment as I'll save money in the long run by doing jobs myself much like you do on a car. I pay a mechanic to do my car because he's cheap, reliable and trustworthy, otherwise in the past I have done oil changes, rear springs, brakes, DISA valve, etc in the past. It's not worth me taking a day off now to do these things unless it's a small job and I feel like doing it. I'll be building a shed, log cabin, outdoor sofas within the next year rather than paying someone else. I was going to do my landscaping myself but the amount of money I have spent on porcelain I'd rather get a professional in.

It's about making more good decisions than bad. A lot of people make bad decisions and then can't understand why they don't have money. Why have the Tories been in power for the past 12 years? Why did England vote for Brexit also? It's people exactly like you that have voted to impact those with little the worst. Or do you believe the Tory party and Brexit was in the best interests of the poor?

Hit the nail right on the head there. Can think of a good few other words too, but probably best not to type them.

Well this thread was an hysterical read. :D

We have had a few S&S over the years lost some healthy chunks and made enough for us overall. Seen penny stocks rise in the old tele text days, danced around the lounge smiling, even sold a few at the right moment. Found it very stressful at times though. No longer have a single one, since we retired. Good luck to all with your investments.

SonyA85 though, tone it down. NLASA.
