is time to move on....

With 4 kids.. all tall for their ages (10, 13, 15, 17)... I don't try to make my family car a fun car. My family car has to support active boys and girls, and all-wheel drive anywhere any season to ensure reliable Ohio driving. If I couldn't have another car, I couldn't have a fun car. Even with 4 kids, I'm often driving just one... and they always want to take the Z4 when that's an option. More important, they see me owning something that isn't new, sometimes needs work, and is valued. Usually, one of them is working on cars with me to do maintenance or just simple care. These are priceless things to do with your kids that they will grow up to value, even if they become filthy rich and never have to do their own work. With 3 boys -- 2 of them already know how to weld, do brakes, suspension work, and oil changes. Create functional humans, not the effete helpless generation that is too prevalent.

IMHO, once you take away that 3rd or 4th car option, you create more stress than necessary. You only live once. Keep a fun car that you can enjoy and also get another car you can use for your growing family for another decade. Then later gift the family car to one of them and enjoy your coupe.. or gift both and get yourself a current model.

This is how nursery runs look over here in the summer 8) my little boy loves 'daddy's race car' :P

Haha! That’s great! :driving:
My son doesn’t like bedtime stories, he just wants to watch “racingcar” (mostly YouTube videos from the Goodwood Revival) and look at photographs of “daddacar” :D

I took my son on national and international Z4 trips from when he was 10, couple of years ago (now 30) he wanted to have the Z experience again so we bought the si, and now the M but he always regretted that I sold my first M (and so do I).

I blame Bing.

For taking your first ///M, not for your son…unless there’s something we don’t know? :P

Revival videos - what excellent taste he has! mine keeps asking for the 'gold porsche 911' after I showed him that Chris Harris video of the Tuthill 911k - which is good because it's a video I'd happily watch again and again!

What a great idea, I’ll play it for him tonight. He’s only 21 months old, so he might not appreciate the delights of a high-revving NA engine, but he’ll certainly enjoy the sound!

…. Whilst waking up the 4 year old. I can see a whole load of trouble coming up

Not to worry, my four year old’s hearing has been ruined by being in my Lotus at full chat :dizzy:

Finally got to time to catchup and read everyones posts.

drove the car a little over Christmas and new years, still brings a big smile to my face, my little son loves the car but so does my daughter so just feels one of them has to miss out on going for drives in the car. Am i going to feel sad selling this, hell yeah! but sharing moments with both of them whilst i'm still a cool dad... pretty priceless. Like someone said i can always come back to it later.

will be a feeler post on here, see if anyone is interested else i will do a part/ex for something

so going to miss this car!

Glwts op! Shame to hear but sensible rationale I guess. I'd view it as 'they'll have to take turns' - teaching them good life skills

Enjoy your last times with it and good luck on the hunt for the replacement :)

I have the opposite problem... My kid wants me to get another one.  He knows he won't be driving my current one.
My almost 16yo son wants an old BMW convertible after working on the Z4 with me -- lol. I'm pushing him towards a 90s Ford F150.

Thank you, the take turns is how it goes now but the I feel bad can only take so I just take other car. Hence why they Z4 get used far less then I would like.

Any know what’s the going rate for these are now?

Ah yes, the wise words of a man whose daughter is far too young to squabble with his son
