Is this the lowest mileage Garage Queen for sale?

Congratulations on the car

It does strike me as curious that someone would buy a car like this and not service it correctly, most strange. However you have the warranty and it's unlikely that the lack of servicing could do any harm with such low miles.

Slight thread diversion but seeing Ruby's photo reminded me. My Dad's friend had an M1. He imported from Johannesburg in the early 80's. Never had a ride in it but sat in it a couple of times.

I haven't seen him for a fair few years but last time I did he had a collection to die for:-

Ferrari F40, F50, and an older one from the mid 60's but can't remember the model (He's also got a 458 Italia now too).
Ford GT40 (Vic Damone's old car)
M1
Lamborghini Miura
Lotus Cortina

Exactly, hence I want an Insp 2 done. In my offer I said I wanted the report on valve clearances pre and post service etc. All been agreed

On a car with a mileage as low as this, it's not the lack of servicing that should be a problem, more the lack of use. But as long as it's been kept in a dry garage that shouldn't be a problem with a car of this age. If I bought a car with such a mileage for age and proven low usage, I'd give it my own 500 mile "running in" period to make sure that all the parts get properly moving before I really put some strain on the car.

Perfect, and as the car will have been garaged and doubt there are problems anyway. Would be very, very interested to hear if any shims would have needed doing at that mileage.

Since BMW's "Conditions Based Servicing" system is based on fuel consumption, I find it hard to see how a car that has done only 6K miles needs shims doing irrespective of whether those miles were done in 6 weeks or 6 years if the car hasn't consumed enough fuel to show that a service is necessary. What does the car's dial say?

exdos, that is what we were discussing earlier in this thread. srhutch and myself were not agreeing with the need to do this as it is mileage based in our opinion and per our service books interpretation, but others say that BMW dealers and UK state that you have to do the INSP I / II on a timed base.

This was the key reader readout

Brake Fluid Due in 16 Months
Engine Oil Due in 14000 Miles
Rear Brake Due in 28000 Miles
Front Brake Due in 30000 Miles
Vehicle check Due in 30000 Miles
Micro Filter Due in 14000 Miles
Next Service Due in 13050 Miles (from the speedo display)

That does not add up though as the brake fluid service was not done 6 months ago?

Good point :)

Bing, get him on it on the next run

He's been briefed

When I told him you are buying this one his response was - "I told you that you should have bought the other one !" [kevshore's]

i think it's easy to get a bit hung up on service records. two identical cars, one perfect service history, one patchy, it's a no brainer; but in the second hand car market, particularly zeds, where there are often only 11 for sale on pistonheads at a time, you're unlikely to get that sort of choice. the last two cars i bought had 'compromises' but, quite frankly, when i see these adverts saying "i spent 6 years looking for one before i found this...." (perhaps a little hyperbolic) i always think, did you really?!

clearly this car is one you'd buy.

i wonder how many times the previous owner farted on the seat.... :)

Bing - we will spend your money for you, no problem :D

I am a little worried all these Imola Reds on here are becoming 'keepers'

...however in 1 year and 9 months time I will be relying on you all to help me find the perfect car :driving:
