i wonder how many times the previous owner farted on the seat.... :)

 is this like a common man thing? It has been mentioned a few times on the forum..

i may've spent my formative education at the local comp, but i am not sure how i feel about being referred to as a common man.... :P

exdos, that is what we were discussing earlier in this thread. srhutch and myself were not agreeing with the need to do this as it is mileage based in our opinion and per our service books interpretation, but others say that BMW dealers and UK state that you have to do the INSP I / II on a timed base.

PVR,

You and srhutch are correct. This is what my Z4MC's Service booklet states:

"Maintenance
Service Interval indicator
The Service Interval indicator tells you when an Oil Service, an Inspection - always Inspection I or II alternately - or a brake fluid change is necessary. A special feature is that the servicing intervals are not fixed distances, but take the actual conditions in which your BMW has been operated into consideration.
The technology it uses also takes your individual driving style and your BMW's operating conditions into account. This is because short-distance driving, with many cold starts and the car driven away at high engine speeds, imposes a different type of load on your vehicle to longdistance driving, when the engine is operating at a consistent temperature for lengthy periods.
Running-in inspection at 2000 km, approx. 1200 miles.
....
Calculation of the Service interval covers almost all operating situations. However, if you drive only very low annual distances, you should have the engine oil changed every two years at the latest, since it ages regardless of the distance the car has covered.
....
Remaining distance
The distance remaining to the next routine maintenance in km is displayed briefly immediately after the engine has been started or the ignition switched on.
The string OILSERVICE or INSPECTION shows when the next service is due. The remaining distance is calculated on the basis of the previous driving performance.
Flashing signs and a minus sign in front of the numerical value show that the service interval has been exceeded by the indicated number of kilometers."

I had a new engine fitted in my Z3MC in 2009, and I discussed this issue with the head of servicing at my BMW garage because my service indicator was then out of phase with the fitting of the new engine. He told me that the vehicle's service indicator is THE definitive decider of when a service is due, the only exception being an oil and brake fluid change every 2 years, if the service indicator doesn't indicate a service is due sooner. The Z4MC's service booklet says exactly the same. I don't know where all this talk of servicing in excess of what the booklets states, comes from.

Wasn,t there a mint ultra low miles 2006 imola M sold on forum in last few months ? The seller also had a range rover i think ??

You are probably thinking of THIS ONE

Yeah , Nice 8) i see Johnnymiller was the lucky recipient :) happy days

indeed, thats my car! :) looking forward to spring when i'll have some time to enjoy the car properly.....its only been out a handful of times in my stewardship so far. It needs a 4 wheel geometry and will get its annual fluid change about march time..... its such a pleasure to drive though, the engine in these cars really is quite something.

congrats to stuart, i just read he has bought the car over at sytner in Cov. I was thinking perhaps to go and have a nose at it to feedback to the forum what its like as not far from me, but no need now.... welcome to the world of Red ///M :) still a newbie myself, but its all good :)

and i thought mine was low mileage at 13k.... :) looks mint, although not keen on the rear wing.....

Rear wing is stuck on with Betalink unfortunately which means a respray if you want to remove. I have one one mine which I would remove given the choice.

TBH though you get used to it and it's not that offensive. At some point in time I will either swap with Bing or aquire a boot lid in Black Sapphire and do a straight swap.

If you acquire a 'fresh' one then I am sure we can come to some sort of arrangement

I don't need a fresh on if swapping with you (subject to condition of course) :)

Its not offensively bad. But I wouldnt want it on my car. Sounds like a bummer to remove. At least it isnt drilled fixings. Respraying the boot lid isnt the end of the world.

As for the car at coventry sytner. It looks mega. Stu will be very happy. I love mine! I took it into work a week or so before christmas and got the girls car comments from a few. So far everyone of them that has said that who has passengered with me have taken back their comments after experiencing the car.

No idea. I asked Sars to join in this one but she is pre-occupied by nipple threads :)

:poke: sorry PVR have been a little distracted this last few days, anyway I think you did a fine job in arguing your point and I for one wholly agree with following the manual, after all, who are you going to trust more, a technician at a dealer or the Engineers that designed the car and wrote the manual for it.

However, it will do no harm to get an Inspection 2 service done as part of the deal Stuart

I've popped into Sytner Coventry today and Had a look at your new ///M Stuart, hope you don't mind, it's absolutely gorgeous even before the sales preparation, it was great to how mine would have looked out of the box as it were, the seats are Matt as they should be, where mine are shiny after years of cleaning and conditioning, a beautiful, beautiful car, she'll do you credit!!
