Interesting story that added flavour to the negotiations

The service history was incomplete and resulted in me pushing back on them. My final offer was free inspection 2 now, and written confirmation from BMW themselves (not Sytner) that the warranty would be honoured. I have that commitment from BMW that once Sytner have validated with them that an Inspection II has been carried out they will confirm in writing that the warranty is intact. Also got a years road tax, refund of the 12 months tax on the Alpina.

The cost to change price is close to my initial offer (very close indeed) and means I won't have to spend the money renewing the warranty on #69. Given the cost of an inspection 2 and tax, I'm really really happy with the deal. It's all subject to visual inspection and test drive but otherwise... SOLD!

In what way was the history incomplete Stuart. My first ///M was overdue an oil service by 8 months. The dealer took the car back as any warranty company could reject a claim due to service schedule not being followed.

Dealer offered me two year warranty but again this was basically them putting their hand in their pocket if they needed to, not an official warranty.

It would need to be Mondial, AIG or whoever BMW are using for warranty purposes now that you would need written confirmation from IMO.

Congrats Stuart.... You'll have to change the sig now : welcome to the world of red zeds.... You'll get more attention now :P

First oil change late, inspection 1 didn't happen. I offered to progress only if they did the Inspection II now, covered anything found and I had it in writing from BMW that the AUC benefits package would be in place. I already have a email from the UK head of BMW AUC confirming so I'm happy. The running in service and first oil change were done and considering the mileage I decided if BMW were prepared to go into writing I'd take the risk

Doing the test and inspection on Saturday afternoon. I have a friend in the trade and a bmw specialist who's taken a look and pronounced it a good'un

Congratulations Stuart

Even has a spoiler... Not jealous. Nope, not one bit :D

Cheers chap, the spoiler is the one thing I'm yet to be convinced about :?

Just remember it will be a biatch to get off - I reckon you'll need a proper fill and re-spray of the boot lid after removal because from what I have read the adhesive is pretty permanent...

Can't wait to see her in the flesh later in the year if you do go ahead

I note PVR hasn't commented on your impending LSD yet

Surely it would never have needed an Inspection 1 as they're mileage/SI based not time based. 2, 3, or 4 oil services yes, but not Inspections :?

Do you know it's registration date, as you may be lucky and have bought one of the early March 2006 ones that pay the lower VED

Sorry - been out working and am still out working (damn cheek those customers :) ).

Congrats on the car Stuart, not sure on the InspII at this mileage but as it is free - who cares :)

So you finally scratched that car-changing-itch then :)

There was a bit of a debate on this thread about what the correct service schedule should have been. Option A was follow the Run-in/oil/insp1/oil/insp2 on miles or time whichever comes first or option B at 2 years, do an oil change. Neither option had been followed on this car. As people are curious, and I have it in writing from BMW that the warranty is good based on Insp2 being done now, here's the service history...

Built 15th June 2006 (so expensive tax, but a year included)

28/11/2006 16295 Westerly BMW Pre-Delivery (PDI Inspection)
06/06/2007 16295 Westerly BMW 1205 Miles (Running In)
21/11/2007 16295 Westerly B 1876 Miles (Accessories Fitted)
01/12/2009 16295 Westerly B 3946 Miles (Engine Oil / Micro filter Service) (6 Months Late)
18/11/2010 16295 Westerly B 4421 Miles (MOT) (500 miles in a year!)
23/11/2011 16295 Westerly B 5145 Miles (MOT) (again, 500 miles in a year!)
21/11/2012 16295 Westerly B 5810 Miles (MOT) (Just over 600 miles this year)

Essentially, this car has averaged under 20 miles a week from new! :D
