is the z4 realli a female car?

since i picked my zed up two weeks ago i've had is the usual (and expected) comments from my mates, which is all good banter, and a mixed bunch of comments from work. Work people can be a joke though, say one thing to your face then slag you off behind your back. Most jealously comes from the older lot who drive people carriers for the kids haha... they can only dream of owning a 2 seater roadster.

random comments have only been good! father and son congratulated me on my car at my golf club! i let the kid sit in the drivers seat and push the button for the roof which made his day.

only negative thing so far which has really pissed me off was a dirty little hoody trying to launch an empty coke can at me when i had the roof down driving down the Fulham road. That really got to me. stuck two fingers up and sped away... he missed the car, had he hit me or the car the red mist might have emerged

i bet a coupe owner never gets this comment

I've never had abuse....weirdly (and unlike any car I've had before) I get positive feedback at least 2-3 times a week from random strangers.

From an objective point of view, I have always found people see red when they see a soft top. There is never any pattern to it, just the fact the roof goes down. That is why you can drive an MX5 and still get abuse. When ever I have had a go in a soft top car, I have definitely experienced those dirty looks. It's very weird.

+1 you don't get abuse with a Coupe! People are always complimenting it.

Must be a soft top thing! :gfight:

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Ok then "You don't get verbal abuse with a Coupe, you just come out of restaurants to find tampons on your car"

Someone was a little jealous I think!

Maybe you do get abuse with a coupe.....you just can't hear it.....

Have to say, I think Badwolfs approach is probably the best Ive seen

This may not be popular but...

I suspect most people couldn't distinguish the coupe from a 1 series to be honest.

The roadster's much more distinctive and more obviously "a sports car" to most peoples eyes. I've never had abuse driving it, but I do notice drivers are occasionally more aggressive towards me than they were in my previous cars. It's always people in people carriers and I'm guessing just pure envy.

People in nice cars tend to do the appreciative "nice car mate" nod. Even people in Carrera's and much more expensive cars - anything you'd see in the pages of Evo.

I care not a jot what anyone thinks of or classes my car as. I sought no-ones approval prior to buying it, therefore don't need or want it now.

I accept others may not like it. But care not as to why.

my previous car was a 120d MSport, I had all the 'girl's car'' comments then too.

They still say the same now when they find out I have upgraded to a z4C... well, up until the point they see it and realise just how damn gorgeous they really are, then I take them for a spin and you can just sense their agonising jealousy. Love it!

I've never heard anyone calling mine a women's car, and I've equally never had tampons left on it.

I do reckon the roadsters probably attract more comments like that though, and that half the people who say it probably quote anything Clarkson says like it's gospel and still funny when they say it.

I'm looking forward to getting the roadster. :D

It's mainly for the wife to drive, so in that sense it's a female car, but I will have no problems driving it myself on a sunny day

I hate to break this to you, but you will have problems driving it on a sunny day.

You'll have to fight your wife for the keys for a start, that's not going to be easy :)

Siftah, you naughty boy
Taz X you can still bring your 1 series on the North Wales run.

I get a load of stick about the MX5 and to be fair they are owned by a lot of women and old men (including me!) Get's called a hairdressers car, tart's car, noddy car :) I've always got the 'M' as the ultimate come back though

no sifta, not popular at all :P

I thought not :poke:

If it's any consolation, the same "most people" are a bunch of muppets and wouldn't know a Lancia Delta HF Integrale from a Ford Fiesta and probably couldn't spot the difference between a Ferrari 430 and a Toyota Celica, so, y'know :)

I'm with Lance, well said that man

people just think its not my car....daddys car apparently
meh
i ll be laughin when ive got a cayman...or an ///m :driving:
