Is my abs working?

From previous BMW's I have owned I know the abs rarely interferes until it has to, but while bedding in my disks I have concluded that the previous owner not only didn't look after the brakes he has put hard pads and they need to be warmed up before they are any good, then they are quite good. But during my hard braking exercises (countryside empty road) not once did the abs kick despite low speed intermittent locking brakes. No lights on dash. Any thoughts?

When you turn on the ignition is the ABS light on on the dash? If not maybe it's been "removed" if that's the case the ABS may have had an issue.
Check that first. If it's there then id say all is probably ok. Tbh mine has only ever kicked in under exceptionally severe braking

1. Find a quite road
2. Take the car up to 40mph
3. Slam on the brakes as hard as you can
4. If the wheels lock up and stay locked up your ABS isn't working

Find a grassy field to play/test on and get up to speed them emergency stop , you should like has been said before feel the pulsing of the brake pedal :driving:
