Sorry but I am completely brassed off with giving presents just because it's xmas !
I would rather give and receive a present when it's needed rather than just because it's xmas arghhhhh

Don't get me wrong I love giving gifts and presents and I have some lovely lights on my house but xmas forces me and everyone else to buy presents when much of what is bought is wasted (IMHO)
shopping tonight for mrs badgers xmas presents I was losing the will to live !

Please tell me I am not alone :headbang:

I hate it with a vengeance.

Mainly because it's BIG LIE time. Peace on earth etc while we torture, bomb, cheat, lie, steal etc and the commercialism that means folk who can I'll afford it spend money they don't have buying unnecessary products for people who probably don't want them anyway!

Loads more rant behind that lot if needed!

:fuelfire:

I'm not it's biggest fan... Even less now that WB is too old for Lego :(

Ah yes, Xmas, the time of year when you spend money you haven't got buying gifts that people don't want. It's just rampant commercialism that's hooked up with emotiolnal blackmail. In short - a load of outdated old bollox.

The missus and me have opted out now and agreed to only spend about tenner tops on each other. We still buy stuff for the kids (kids? They're 28 and 34) and they usually get us something decent but it is daft. Best thing about Xmas is the dinner - I love Xmas dinner :) If the weather's ok I usually try to get out on the bike while the roads are deserted too. Otherwise not really keen on it.

We like Christmas. We keep spending in check by limiting it to £50 on each other. £20 on a main present and £30 on 10 gifts from charity shops which make up our Christmas stocking. These presents usually go back to the charity shops, they are only for sh1ts and giggles. We also give to charity or help a friend out. Kiva usually gets another $25 as well.

We also like the tree, with its pretty colours, baubles and tinsel. Dressing just a bit of the room does seem to raise the anticipation, making it feel like a bit of a special day ahead.

Christmas is what you make it, if you get suckered in to its commercialism, then whose fault is that?

Sorry, we enjoy Christmas in our home.

:o Whaaaaaaaaat! You're never too old for Lego :D

True, I have the whole Lego Shell collection after all :D

Though at the age he's at, WB would rather have clothes, shoes and money. He's not even asked for an Xbox game this year :o

This is going to sound terrible, but a large proportion of my family are either in Malaysia, 'splintered', or deceased, so Christmas is a fairly quiet affair when we go to Scotland for Christmas every two years. That said, I do love going 'home' for a wee while. New Year is usually much livelier, but our usual party partners are away this year and we've not made any plans yet.

I love the family get together, the food, the few beers and the atmosphere at home........our kids are 30 and 33 so we dont bother with pressies any more but the wife still enjoys all the decorations etc

lets start with the word Xmas ..... FFS

then we can go on from there..... where do you want me to start?

how about the being nice to all people.... what a load of BS. i don't like the guy from accounts, hes a fat lazy C-u-next-tuesay that doesn't do his job properly so no im not going to go to the pub and be all matey....

god i hate this time of year.... dark, cold, wet, and then just to add the crowning turd in a bowl we get Christmas to deal with.

i like some bits of it, got a tree for mungo the cat to climb and some fancy new alessi baubles as the others were all a bit naff. mince pies make up for it also.

Oh dear. I feel sorry for some of these people and also a bit guilty for enjoying the season with my family. All the best!

I'm a fan.

Christmas day post dinner stroll with dogs, family around for dinner, enjoy buying surprise presents (not always expensive, at least one fun one for each person).

My opinion is you get out of it what you put in - the only issue I have with Christmas is there is always someone who tries to bring religion into it....
