Is it just me that hates xmas ?

I'm sick of Christmas too, it's just more duty and stress, it's really only for Kids and the retailers !

They should do it once every four years like the world cup or leap year, that would give it back some novelty :)

What else you got on this time of year?

Quite like putting the lights up outside and Steph loves all the decorating of the house - bit like a glorious Blue Peter event!

Food's incredible, friend's round and the kids visit home (kids, ha. . .21, 21, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29 still like their Christmas dinner)

Even like Christmas music that gets played in the cars and at home during the season. Buble's Christmas CD's a favourite at the minute.

The Christmas specials on TV and the new things to play with and mess with - magic.

Had three great nights out with friends, everyone in their finest outfits, food, drink, music, dancing - been looking forward to the events - wonderful.

It's still a commercial event rather than anything else though - but like I said - what else you going to do this time of year?

:driving:

My "kids" are all grown up and we have 6 grandchildren - each Christmas they all visit us - usually in "droves" :D Christmas is about families and friends getting together . As you get older it has even more meaning - life is short enough without being a "Grumpy "

I am one of the lucky ones to have a family who cares - there is a lot of terrible things going on in the world that is heartbreaking to see :(

Sorry but I am completely brassed off with giving presents just because it's xmas !
I would rather give and receive a present when it's needed rather than just because it's xmas arghhhhh

Don't get me wrong I love giving gifts and presents and I have some lovely lights on my house but xmas forces me and everyone else to buy presents when much of what is bought is wasted (IMHO)
shopping tonight for mrs badgers xmas presents I was losing the will to live !

Please tell me I am not alone :headbang:
Well Badger, in answer to your question: no it isn't just you but fortunately, you appear to be in the minority.

Yes RoyE I would have to agree ! maybe its because I was blessed with two daughters (now 19 & 16) who are fantastic but no amount of persuasion will see them want Scalextric or Train sets for Xmas !!!!! not even had any lego to play with and to be honest even after a few drinks the Barbie Jeep loses its appeal !!....... having read some of the replies I'm not a real "bah humbug" just denied the boys toys at this special time of year !

It seems that you have searched and found your inner self. Oh dear, I have become a philosopher all of a sudden.

What's not to like. Time off work, everyone is usually in a good mood, you get to eat until you can't fit any more in, and drink as much as you can. This year everyone is getting home made beer and home made pork pies from me, well the men are, and the wife has made candles, bath bombs and body butter for the ladies. Hasn't cost a great deal but the thought is there and who doesn't like food, drink and smellies this time of year.

Drinking games during the Queen's speech

Explain? I know the Roxanne/Put On A Red Light one, basically you drink each time you hear one or the other. Gets you s**t faced fairly quickly

I'm not it's biggest fan... Even less now that WB is too old for Lego :(

Never too old for lego J.

Best thing about Christmas is twinkly lights, should be up all year imo.
And christmas dinner.

and I forgot to add ................... a pantomine . My grandaughter is now 3 ( the others are getting a bit too old :) ) so I have an excuse to take her - having said that all the others are now saying they want to go as well ! ( costing me £137 without the half time ice creams !! - Bah Humbug )

I've got the wife, two daughters and a granddaughter but I would give everything I own, to have every second again (even with a house full of women!). I feel sorry for people who do not like being with their families as they must have had a terrible time in their pasts. Roll on 2015 - lifes too short to be a misery guts! :D

Ah yes, Xmas, the time of year when you spend money you haven't got buying gifts that people don't want. It's just rampant commercialism that's hooked up with emotiolnal blackmail. In short - a load of outdated old bollox.

The missus and me have opted out now and agreed to only spend about tenner tops on each other. We still buy stuff for the kids (kids? They're 28 and 34) and they usually get us something decent but it is daft. Best thing about Xmas is the dinner - I love Xmas dinner :) If the weather's ok I usually try to get out on the bike while the roads are deserted too. Otherwise not really keen on it.

Sorry to break your heart but Christmas dinner is just a roast dinner with a fancy name.

Your not a real man in that case, or you have never had a proper pork pie.

Doing pork and apple, pork and black pudding, turkey/ham/stuffing and cranberry. Might even throw the odd pigs in blanket and try something new.
