Not the most technical of responses, but I used to hate Apple and was a firm laptop and Blackberry for business and personal.
Now I have an iPhone 4 and iPad, laptop and 2 desktop machines.
If I'm in my office and on 'real 'business the full keyboard and large monitor takes care of my needs, but frankly my laptop is now almost a forgotten tool. desktop machines just for large volume typing, spreadsheets, etc.
Combination of iPhone and iPad takes care of pretty much all my other needs. Between then making calls, surfing, quick photographs, text and email on the iPhone and for a bit more screen size the iPad does it. I don't want one of thes giant phones that look like tablets in my pocket
Roll-on the Iphone 5 and I'll be there for one
Longer battery life for sure, but I remember needeing a new battery every 6 months - how quick we forget. Different docking system - ah well - more progress. I have a draw full of old chargers, adaptors, connectors, leads, etc. one more and a few chinese adaptors won't matter..
