Insurance Cost Z4M

My renewal has just come in, and the good news it's exactly the same price as last year. Bad news is it's still £695. I'm in my 50s, 12 years NCB, one SP50 from July 2020.

I'll do the usual round of phone calls but don't expect to beat that price, given most underwriters won't touch a modified car in East London.

Had the renewal for M last week, gone up by approximately £17 to £193 limited 4000mls were as the Audi went up £165

I am around £250 to 270 most years, other than when I went from 0 points to 6 points for speeding in 2017.....and it went to over £650!!

But has since came back down to around the previous years.
That's fine West of Scotland right enough, protected ncb,5k a year Mileage, but with Advanced driving accreditation/discount,etc.
Was on guaranteed value,£19,190 last summer, but insurer dropped that at the start of the year, policy up for Renewal in the summer,so will look again at guaranteed value elsewhere.
Mods listed are Brakes(uprated Calipers etc, which have actually been removed for the time being).

Mine went from approx £792 to £1312 this year albeit for a Z4M and an F82 M4 with Admiral.

I had a claim last year after someone drove into me, but it still hurt.

I just phoned REIS and they wouldn't quote me unless it was for motorsport use and I held a race licence.
Weird. They did change ownership last year, but they have no issue reinsuring my car, that said it has to be a second car and used for trackdays. I have a race licence but they don't know this and the car certainly isn't used competitively.
I guess the new owner or underwriter is limiting new business in this area.

I was a bit miffed it went over £100 this year

All mods declared though now live out in the sticks

Wow - that's cheap as chips! :o

Is that just LV direct, or some sort of scheme? PM me if you'd rather - mine will be due next month.

You have my mobile Mr. T

It’s a multi-car policy, first two are class 1 business use, 3rd is the Z with 3k limited mileage all registered in my name with dashcams down in the back of beyond.

Well I didn’t expect that!

I’ve just had my insurance renewal come through and the price has come down from £287 to £243.
Just off to the fridge to celebrate with a cold one 💪

Well, I suppose there has to be an upside in becoming an old fart and being able to insure through Saga…..

Moving on from my earlier post I just got the renewal from Chris Knott for £434.99 with 5,000 miles a year.

Money Supermarket have a site for "Classic" cars so for some entertainment I put details into that. Declared Suspension mods (I've got coil-overs), body mods for the Aero sills, added Roll Cage as there was nothing else in the drop-down that would suit a strut brace and couldn't find anything appropriate for after-market back-boxes.

Quotes came back starting at £485.31 and topping out at £2,708.63! :o

But the craziest bit was when I entered my registration number the website generated a valuation of £6,910. WTF is that about?

£7k is probably the trade price if sold at auction, it affects the cost of a repair if a claim is made, a lot of cars are being written off for light damage.
The cost of repairs has skyrocketed a new bumper can easily cost £2000 if the car retail value is only £4k they will write it off, you can buy it back but it becomes Cat N or S and virtually unsalable.

Making a claim needs thought it can get very expensive, a DIY or Smart fix makes more sense.

Just renewed mine today with them, strange. Went up £5 which is less than inflation so I'm calling that a win :D

Jumping back into this thread. My insurance Co have just offered to lock this years renewal price in for the next 3 years (don’t laugh, it’s Saga) at £275 per year, thought it was a bit of a no-brainier….

Could cry reading this thread. Mines about £1600  with LV. My 3.0si was about 1200. Age is 32. Location is right in the thick of it, in crime riddled Huddersfield so the postcode certainly doesn't help. Never had insurance less than a grand I think. But also never had a normal car so it's hard to say

Sorry, didn’t want to create any angst, more a case of sharing incase it’s worth exploring fixing the cost if it’s an option

Not at all! That's just the way it goes :) I knew what I was getting into when I bought it to be fair. My insurance prices do flip flop alot though, my renewal quote next year will probably be alot less than it is now

This was my last multicar cost.

BMW 4 SERIES - £1,026.36
BMW Z4 - £285.58

As I'm now retired I just tried to alter the policies to remove commuting. It added £11 to the Z4m and was the same for the M4.

Bizarre. Time to change next year.
