ICAR OBD 2! Dash Command

Hi

Not set up 100% at present but wanted to share my experience! I wanted gauges but cant justify the cost, I also wanted the ability to read fault codes. As I have a I-pad mini install it made sense to go for a wif-fi OBD. Dash Command seems to be comprehensive and useful so I went for it.

Just had a little play and thought I would share some pics

Thats very cool. I have one of the code readers which is great but would love it to connect to the nav screen with those sort of readouts!

Is 'Dash Command' an application that you download from itunes for the iPad?

Hi

Yes its the best £6.99 I have spent! I had a TT previously and had liquid guages installed in the vents! It cost a small fortune! To be honest the ipad dash molding was a similar price

If you are looking at OBD2, make sure you get the wi-fi and not the Bluetooth one in some of the above posts. The wi-fi model is more expensive but I needed this as I wanted to retain connection to my wireless hard drive.

I am interested in this product, are the power and torque figures displayed real or are they a calculation?

Also, can this be bluetoothed to an Android phone?

Hi. Yes this is available for android. In honesty I am not sure how it works, but dials appear to be same on APP as speedo/temp etc in the car.

I have the same obd reader and dashcommand, very good and reliable.
I use my iPhone so smaller screen but it works fine.
You can adjust the advanced settings in your car details which change the Bhp and torque depending on your car spec. You have to input car details, Gear ratios tyre sizes etc

You could backwork torque output from injector duty cycle and a/f ratio, given a known total efficiency curve of the overall engine. You'd probably get close enough factoring in VE and taking a fixed % of the output as a total efficiency loss.
