It took me 2 attempts to pass am sure that's an easy number to beat. Steve
My ex's mother failed hers 35 times back in the 70s... took her driving test pretty much every couple of weeks until she passed. She was a p*ss poor driver...

Three  But in mitigation i was a motorcyclist at the time and had developed lots of bad habits :D

Whaaaat! Fair play to her for persistance!

I passed first time. :)

First time, within a couple of months of my 17th birthday :P

But it took only four months to write off my first car

My grandad taught me.

As above passed first time when I was 17 in a Austin metro (900cc beast)

1st time with three minors one month after birthday. Id learnt car control on my dads farm so it was just road craft ineeded to learn.

1st time also. Had to better my big sis, who took 2 attempts. Jumped straight into my brown Austin Allegro 1.3 litre which I had stuck a small, fat steering wheel on. Come to think of it, that would have been my first mod! Fortunately I've acquired taste with experience.

Wrecked my Allegro jumping hump-backed bridges when hooning with my mate in his mk2 Escort. Happy days when petrol was about 40p a litre.

Hmmm lots of young 1st timers it seems smart alecs . I passed mine at 21 wonder who is the oldest here to pass test.

First time 1966 in an Austin 1100 - no points ever surprisingly.

I'm a volunteer driver for a Blind Society - its a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge 18 seater minibus and because my licence is so old I can legally drive it without any sort of upgrade test. Pretty scary when I first got behind the wheel !

Did it take you to pass your driving test not the theory part the actual test. 2 times for me. Good evening night owls. Steve

First time, 7 lessons, and no theory part when I did mine

Second time here - first time the car failed! Whilst in the centre picking up the examiner some numpty hit the car and damaged the driver's side, removing the wing mirror. Examiner comes out and fails the car, which apparently counts as a fail against me

First time - 5 minors, one of which was for "use of speed" as in 35 ish in a 30  I don't know how I got away with that!

My examiner asked me what was I up to that night whilst out on the test and in my infinite 17 year old wisdom I replied "driving hopefully" haha

I failed my test first time ... before I even got into the car...

The examiner asked to me to read the number plate on a parked car... and I couldn't make it out properly. Fail.

I had no idea that I needed glasses. My instructor said it had happened several times. I suggested that it might be a good idea to perform that little test before starting driving lessons... anyway, a trip to the opticians - three weeks later, took the test again . Passed. :driving:

Passed first time, a clean sheet only 10 weeks after my first lesson on my 17th birthday. People at school told me I'd crash and burn really quickly because of it. A week later I promptly reversed into a Fiesta in a car park :D The good old Volvo 340 battle tank didn't have as much as a scuff, but the Fiesta I hit looked rather sorry for itself....

Seems funny to look back but the one thing I found the hardest to learn was pulling away - the noise of the engine seemed so scary at 2000rpm   10 weeks later and it was doubtful I was ever pulling away at less than 4 or 5k rpm
